Job Description

Winchester School in Winchester NH is a caring and compassionate K8 school designing and delivering innovative instructional experiences for all of its 320 students. The Winchester School outofdistrict coordinator is a professional educator who believes that no matter where students begin their learning journey all can accomplish significant growth and development through a structured engaging and rigorous course of study. The outofdistrict coordinator is compassionate and empathetic toward the life needs of adolescent learners from our community all while adhering to the core mission of building the needed academic civic and social skills that will help them excel in their path towards high school and beyond. Collaborator leader and coach describe only some of the key characteristics of the Winchester outofdistrict coordinator.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Masters Degree in Special Education or School Psychology. Certification in Special Education with specific endorsement (i.e.: LD EH MR or School Psychology);A minimum of three 3 years of successful special education teaching experience;Possess a genuine desire to work with all students; be sensitive to and skilled in working with a diverse student population.Position requires a valid drivers license.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Assist in the development of a school culture that believes all students can and will achieve at high levels;Commits to the concept of education as a professional practice and the requirement to pursue additional learning opportunities to advance it;Maintains a close working relationship with Principal staff and district administrators to ensure information exchange and coordination of efforts and general support for the decisionmaking process; as well as supporting school improvement initiatives and processes;Provides case management and consultation services for students in the identification evaluation and placement of special education students in out of district placements. Primary responsibility is the completion of all special education forms and procedures for the case management of out of district students. This includes the monitoring and scheduling of evaluations and appropriate services to maintain federal and state compliance for out of district students and case management of students in court ordered 402 placements.Works with the Director of Student Services to ensure correct procedures for completing the special education process are prescribed as part of SAU statutory compliance adequately monitor services and provide data for state programs.Assist LEPTs Services with technical assistance with the Director of Student Services regarding the identification evaluation and placement of students.Ensures that the due process rights are afforded every student parent and school in the special education process by assuring distribution of parental rights notifications hearing complaints and working on resolutions with local schools requesting and attending due process hearings or mediation sessions.Ensures a continuum of appropriate services for special need students by assessing the needs of schools and students and developing essential programs.Completes an annual review and updates the annual plan for education of the handicapped as prescribed by the state and federal statutes.Coordinates services of outside agencies such as: Vocational Rehabilitation Developmental Services Mental Health and the Division for Children and Youth Services.Attends court hearings for school district students in which special education is considered or already encumbered and monitors programming for court involved students as required by the James O. Consent Decree.Coordinates placement of students outside of the local school district with building level special education coordinator.Attend meetings and monitor progress of students at their assigned high school.Liaison for the LEA to the Division of Children and Youth Services and other area agencies.Case management of students responding to annual Childfind notification.Will perform other duties as directed by the Director of Student Services.The position is a 0.6 FTE with a work year of 144 days (three days per week August through June). Compensation is negotiable and regionally competitive. The position begins August 1 2025 and will remain posted until filled.
