The Manager of Nursing demonstrates performance consistent with professional forensic nursing standards of practice care and performance the Nurse Practice Act and the mission and goals of the organization. The Manager of Nursing demonstrates mastery of the Forensic Nurse Examiner role and demonstrates leadership skills in education practice and operations.
Exceptional Skills and Qualifications
Applicants for this position should be able to collaborate with others in a team setting have excellent communication skills and a positive attitude towards problemsolving.
- 5 (five) or more years of RN experience required
- 3 (three) or more years of management/leadership experience required
- 1 (one) or more years of recent clinical forensic nursing experience required
- 2 year / associate degree Graduate of National League for Nursing (NLN) Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN)
- Bachelors degree required within 5 years of assuming the role
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency required
- Certification required in relevant specialty or Nursing Administration within three years of assuming the role
- Knowledge of Sexual and Forensic Nursing Standards of Practice Indiana Guidelines for Medical Forensic Evidence Collection Indiana State Nurse Practice Act
- Work effectively and cooperatively with a variety of professional and paraprofessional persons from the Network and various community and state agencies hospitals law enforcement and the criminal justice system
- Understand the relationship of individual patients units and/or departments to the Network as a whole to facilitate achievement of optimal goals within those relationships
- Serve as an expert forensic resource for other health care professionals regarding dynamics of victimization and resources for primary and secondary forensic patients
- Effective interpersonal verbal and written communication
- Team building and accountability to the team
- Problem solving techniques critical thinking and decisionmaking skills
