About the Opportunity
JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Assistant Director of Residential Life (SAD) reports to an Associate Director and is vital in creating a vibrant inclusive and supportive community. This position serves as a member of the Department of Residential Lifes leadership team and supervises the Residence Directors and Operations Coordinators. They will directly supervise 57 fulltime staff and indirectly supervise 5060 student Resident Assistants.
The ideal candidate will be dedicated to student learning and innovative approaches to education. The Department of Residential Life supports over 11000 students living on our Boston campus and this role oversees a neighborhood of approximately 2500 students. Under the Associate Director they will be charged with coordinating and implementing departmental decisions and directives and will process and resolve student/parent/guardian or staff concerns.
This position is studentfacing and requires a dynamic individual with excellent communication skills a passion for student development and the ability to manage crises effectively. They will work closely with students staff and faculty to create a welcoming environment that promotes student engagement and a sense of belonging.
This role requires a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive and educational environment that promotes student and staff success and wellbeing.
This position will be responsible for the direction of an assigned functional area within the department often collaborating with other staff member as cochair. Functional assignments are flexible and will be reevaluated based on Departments needs.
Due to the livein requirements of this position it is required that the oncampus apartment provided must be the individuals primary residence and that person must maintain a high visibility within their residential areas of responsibility. All SADs participate in an oncall duty rotation and require the individual to work untraditional hours including evening hours and weekends. This role also requires working some holidays and semester breaks.
This is a 12month fulltime position. Staff may be required to help cover vacancies based on Department needs. The Department experiences peak busy times where additional support may be needed outside of traditional business hours including opening closing and transition periods. This role is expected to support in all hands are on deck for major sporting events
campus emergencies campus and department events and peak times of year when additional staffing is needed to support the needs of the community.
