JOB SUMMARY:
Assist the teacher with planning preparation and delivery of a quality instructional program based upon state standards district curriculum and effective instruction for students with diverse learning needs. Supervise students at recess in the cafeteria libraryassistancefor students riding the bus andperformcrossing guard duties before and after school. Mayassistwith implementation of special education services for students i.e.IEPgoals medicalassistancephysicalsupport and personal care.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist teacher(s) with the daily supervision of studentsfor the purpose ofmaintaining and providing a safe and positive learning environment.
- Under the teachers direction administer multiple student tests collect andmaintaindiagnostic and test data update student records and assess student progress.
- Assist teacher(s) with monitoring and managing student behavior and progress; share observations with teacher(s) and other professional staff.
- Assist teacher(s) with implementation of various strategiesto addressdiverse student needs and supportindividualeducational growth and achievement goals.
- Provide clerical and general classroomassistancefor staff which may include collection and data entry of information correspondence copying filing and preparation of classroom materials.
- Administer first aid medicalassistancephysicalsupport and personal carefor the purpose ofprovidingappropriatecare for ill medically fragile and/or disabled children.
- Providephysicalassistancefor students with special needs such as feedingtoileting proper lifting and positioning of students in and out of chairs and with adaptive equipment;assiststudents with the use specific equipment related to their disability (e.g. materials assistive technology visual aids).
- Track and dispense authorized student medications.
- Perform crossing guard duties before and after school to supervise andmonitorstudents.
- Assist with monitoring students in the cafeteria and/or at recess;assistwith maintaining a clean and orderly environment for student safety and wellbeing.
- Participate in meetings and trainingfor the purpose ofsharing information improving the employee skills and knowledge implementing school initiatives and addressing student needs.
- Comply with District Policies.
- Maintain consistent presence at assignedworksiteand regularly work hours specified.
- May be subject to reassignment of job duties depending on program building and student needs.
- Such other related job duties as assigned by supervisor(s).
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
Skills Knowledge and Abilities required to satisfactorilyperformthe functions of the job.

Education/Certification:
- Be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or itsequivalent.
- Meetoneof the following requirements:
- Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or universityor
- Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher at an accredited college or universityor
- Completed an apprenticeship as aparaeducator in a program registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Councilor
- Received a passing score on one of the followingPESBapproved assessments:
- ETSParaProAssessment.
- PearsonsParaprofessionalAssessment.
- The Master Teacher Inc.ParaeducatorOnline Training Program.
- Depending on assignmentmay berequired to complete behaviormodificationprograms including safephysicalrestraining techniques and/or other training as required.
Experience:
