What Youll Do

The Specialty Engineering Intern shall assist in the general function of the engineering department and the overall LSS (lean6sigma) goals of the company. They will gain an understanding of how a manufacturing environment operates including various product development and process development techniques.

• Assist the Applications Engineering & Process Engineering departments in the creation of wire & cable.
• Applications work may include product development (including testing) product maintenance (ERP system updating) and DoEs.
• Process work may include process improvement product development (including manufacturing such as extrusion) and LSS (lean6sigma) .

What Youll Need

• Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Industrial Engineering Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Computer Science Quality Engineering Manufacturing Engineering.
• Rising Sophomore or above.
• Excellent written verbal communication and presentation skills
• Ability to effectively communicate issues and solutions to all levels of the team.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.
• Ability to work independently and challenge the status quo.

Work Hours/Length of Program

• The internship will run for 12 weeks from May to August.
• Temporary Full Time targeting 2440 hours per week.
• Exact start and end dates are flexible based on school schedules and the needs of the business.
• This is a paid internship.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

This position is based in our stateoftheart manufacturing facility and involves working in a manufacturing environment. The environment may involve exposure to noise temperature fluctuations or other factors. Employees are required to wear safety goggles and safety shoes. Time will be split between office work and cooperative teamwork with production operators on the manufacturing floor.

• Successful completion of a drug screening and a physical exam are required for this role.
• This position involves regular walking standing sitting for extended periods of time hearing and talking.
• May occasionally involve stooping kneeling or crouching.
• May involve close vision color vision depth perception focus adjustment and viewing computer monitor for extended periods of time.
• Involves manual dexterity for using keyboard mouse and other office equipment.
• May involve moving or lifting items under 40 pounds.
