These internship positions will provide you an opportunity to work alongside airport professionals in a fastmoving dynamic environment helping to break down barriers for Equity and Social Justice in your own community and shape this city within a city for decades to come.
KCIA is recruiting for four 4 undergraduatelevel interns in a variety of fields. See below for details on each position.

For ALL internships: You must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and live within a reasonable distance to the King County Airport.
Airfield Operations & Business Relations Intern
Summary
The responsibilities of the Airfield Operations Intern include performing entrylevel airfield oversight and General Aviation duties with the operations & external relations team. Specific operational tasks may include but are not limited to inspections assisting tenants administrative duties and record keeping tenant notifications airport badging and ongoing education through IET online courses covering part 139 and part 77 subject matter. The internship will help the student apply their academic skills to gain firsthand knowledge of Airport General Aviation Construction Tenant& Community Relations and Airfield Operations.

Education:Currently enrolled in an accredited fouryear college or university with a focus or interest in airport management.
Work Location:This position will be 100 onsite at the Airport Terminal Building with the operations and business relations team.
Schedule:Up to oneyear internship starting a week after the 2025 school year. Parttime/Fulltime hours: 20 40 hours per week depending on students availability.
General Engineering Intern
Summary
The responsibilities of the General Engineering Intern include assisting with and leading aspects of KCIAs Capital Improvement Program (CIP) developing FAA regulatory documentation assist with construction activities and update our CAD database and models. The chosen candidate will work on highly visible public projects and assist with achieving major agency goals. These projects could range from Runway Rehabilitations to Carbon Neutral efforts. This position will have the opportunity for paid professional development opportunities & trainings access to public management mentors from within the County and crosssectional work within the division.

Innovation GIS Intern
Summary
King County International Airport/Boeing Field (KCIA) is seeking an undergraduate intern entering their 3rd/junior or 4th/senior year to work in collaboration with KCIAs Innovation Section you will gain handson experience in airport infrastructure elements and applying business data in GIS applications.
The responsibilities of the Innovation GIS Intern include performing entrylevel geospatial analytics with mentorship and guidance from the Innovation GIS Specialist reporting to the Innovation Section Manager. Specific tasks may include GIS data gathering QA/QC and normalizing data data editing digitizing map creation and plotting maps. The internship will help the student apply their academic skills to gain firsthand knowledge of airport layout and operations.
KCIAs internship cohort program will provide opportunities to learn about careers in an airport environment and to be supervised and mentored by an airport professional. As part of the KCIAs internship cohort you will have the opportunity to learn from mentor and work with fellow KCIA interns from other areas of expertise and background. Through these experiences we aim to build a strong team that will become future airport and government leaders!

Innovation and Maintenance Business Applications Intern
Summary
King County International Airport/Boeing Field (KCIA) is seeking an undergraduate intern entering their 3rd/junior or 4th/senior year to work in collaboration with KCIAs Innovation and Maintenance Sections. You will gain handson experience in airport maintenance business processes and technology applications and systems that are critical with maintaining the airports business data and infrastructure.
The responsibilities of the Innovation and Maintenance Business Applications Intern include performing data entry business process improvements users training data analytics and visualization with mentorship and guidance from the Innovation Business Applications Specialist reporting to the Innovation Section Manager and Maintenance Manager. Specific tasks may include data gathering QA/QC and normalizing data data entry creating charts and graphs to tell the story behind the data. The internship will help the student apply their academic skills to gain firsthand knowledge of computer and technology skills and how they apply in an airport environment.

As part of the KCIAs internship cohort you will have the opportunity to learn from mentor and work with fellow KCIA interns from other areas of expertise and background. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
Who May Apply: This recruiting effort is for current college students (returning for theacademic year) from an accredited two or fouryear institution.
Work Schedule: This is a 40 hour per week position for the summer normally working Monday through Friday 8 5 p.m. and 1520 hours per week during the school year. There may be rare times when afterhours weekends and/or holidays are required. This position is nonexempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible.
Selection Process:Applications will be screened for clarity completeness and qualifications. The most competitive candidates may be invited to participate in an interview.
