Work Locations: BSSF Hospital (West Ashley) and Roper Hospital (Downtown Charleston)
Job Summary: Responsible for the initiation and maintenance of longterm EEG monitoring equipment and the technical evaluation of the data obtained during monitoring process. Professionally performs EEGs EEG brain death evaluation Electricorticography Transcranial Doppler Brainstem Auditory and Visual Evoked Potential studies utilizing the technical standards established by the American EEG Society and Neurodiagnostic lab protocols.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High school graduated with college level training or experience preferably in an allied medical field.
Experience: Oneyear experience as an Electroneurodiagnostic (EEG) Technician preferred
Licensure/Certification: None required although EEG Certification is desirable. Must have a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card.
Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of clerical skills and medical terminology. Skill in performing EEG procedures. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality. Skill in performing Evoked Potential Studies. Skill in preparing and maintaining records and the ability to retrieve stored/filed material for physician review.
Other: Must maintain confidentiality of all information
Contacts: Ability to deal with physicians hospital staff patients and their family members in a tactful and diplomatic manner
Work Demands/Environment:
Frequent standing walking bending crouching stooping. Frequent lifting/moving patients. Intermittent lifting moving or carrying pushing or pulling up to 25 lbs. Frequent use of finger/hand dexterity. Constant reaching with hands/arms. Frequent talking or hearing. Corrected hearing and vision to normal range. Exposure to blood body fluids or tissue. Possible exposure to infectious materials communicable diseases and/or other conditions common to a healthcare environment. Intermittent exposure to risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens. Moderate noise level in work area. Requires work under stressful conditions deadlines or irregular hours. May be required to take call and/or work weekends/holidays based on the needs of the department.
