In addition to performing the duties of a respiratory therapist as described in the respiratory therapist job description the Advanced Respiratory Therapist fills a specific role in a specialized area of expertise. Provides advanced assessment treatment and monitoring of hospital patients with cardiopulmonary compromise and provides advanced support for the equipment necessary for the care of these patients. Provides diagnostic therapeutic critical care and preventative services to patients in the Emergency Department PostAnesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and Critical Care and may also function as the shift Charge Therapist. Serves as a technical and educational resource for patients and their family members Respiratory staff Respiratory students and other members of the patient care team. Responsible for assessing data reflective of the patients status and appropriately interpreting information relative to the patients agespecific needs. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span. Must be flexible to work hospital hours including days nights weekends and holidays. Critical Care ED Bronchoscopy and Difficult Airway competencies in addition to routine hospital respiratory floor competencies required.
Graduate of an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy Associates degree and a minimum of one year of experience in a respiratory therapy critical care environment including demonstrated Critical Care ED Bronchoscopy and Difficult Airway competencies in addition to routine hospital respiratory floor competencies required.
