Head Start PreKindergarten Instructional Assistant 2
As assigned by the Program Coordinator or Grant Manager. Program or classroom location may change to meet the needs of the program.
The prekindergarten general instructional assistant 2 will provide instructional behavioral and social emotional support services to help achieve a wellorganized smoothly functioning class and school environment where students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resources. Performs related work as required or assigned by the Head Start Coordinator or designee as well as the building principal or designee
Position is performed in a typical school environment. Significant periods of standing and walking are required.
The Maryland Blueprint for Education requires that all instructional assistants working in prek programs hold either a CDA or AA degree. Head Start requires that a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) must be obtained within 18 months of employees hire date unless an AA degree is obtained.
Eleven 11 month position. 207 days/yr.; $21.10 per hour; employment is contingent upon continued grant funding. Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) must be obtained within 18 months of employees hire date unless an AA degree is obtained. If chosen for this position the candidate must enroll in direct deposit.
Nonexempt
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the policy on evaluation as established by Calvert County Public Schools as well as the Head Start Program.

State law requires that anyone hired after October 1 1986 who will have contact with school children must be fingerprinted and submit to a criminal background investigation. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a drug screen. Current employees of the Calvert County Public Schools are exempt from these requirements.
