Essential Duties And Responsibilities
The TIR will work with the department to increase the number of physics secondary education majors and improve the retention of those majors through advising and engaging mentoring experiences. This includes: i) fostering and developing relationships with the local school systems to support student teacher experiences and community colleges for recruitment ii) supporting the observations and mentoring of students in their internships and student teaching and iii) supporting our departmental Learning Assistance Program. The position requires a minimum half time 6 contact hour) teaching load per semester covering courses such as physics and/or science teacher education courses some of which may be team taught.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must hold an undergraduate degree (B.S. or B.A. in Physics Physics Education or Science Education and have experience teaching high school physics. Applicants must have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching student mentoring and collaborating with regional schools.
