Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate qualified Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Duke Raleigh Malignant Hematology team. The ideal candidate has exceptional internal medicine skills and oncology experience. They will work with a multidisciplinary team providing direct patient care services. Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Promote and maintain high standards of patient care throughout the continuum of cancer diagnosis.
- Elicit detailed and accurate patient histories and perform through physical examinations.
- Order appropriate diagnostic imaging and tests to determine medical and post treatment diagnoses patient conditions treatment toxicities.
- Formulate appropriate treatment plans with critical thinking skills and highlevel clinical judgement including prescribing appropriate medications.
- Chart patient progress maintaining detailed and accurate health records
- Participate in clinical research projects and understand the importance of documentation of toxicities and data collection.
- Communicate among multidisciplinary teams to support patient care.
- Collaborating supporting and building strong relationships with supervising backup supervising physicians APP colleagues and team members.
- Participate in education of patients family members new staff students and other learners.
- See scheduled and unscheduled patients.
- Attend program required meetings.
- Maintain up to date clinical and professional knowledge via approved CME.
- Protect patient confidentiality maintain ethics and abide by North Carolina laws and Duke Health System policies.
- Maintain institutional requirements for compliance.
- Consult on and/or visit inpatients on an as needed basis.
- Enter chemotherapy orders for outpatients and inpatients and forward to supervising physician for review / signing.

Job Eligibility Requirements
Education
- Nurse Practitioners: Work requires completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a Masters degree in Nursing.
- Physician Assistants: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. A Bachelors degree required; Masters degree strongly preferred.
Certification
- Physician Assistant Certification
- Nurse Practitioner Licensure and Certification
- Licensed in the State of North Carolina
- BLS required
- ACLS preferred
License
- Nurse Practitioners: Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required. National certification as a NP required.
- Physician Assistants: Must be licensed in the state of NC and be certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
Experience
- 1 years of APP experience required oncology experience preferred.
Job Hours
MondayFriday day shift 8a5p with flexibility to meet clinic needs
