Press Operators

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Safely start up set up and operate Automatic Press Operations according to job specific instructions
• Positions and clamps feed guides.
• Assists in threading metal strip from decoiler through pinch rollers to the die.
• Assure proper packing and stacking process.
• Verifies that die is clear from foreign objects.
• Threads metal strip from play out reel through pinch rollers or loads hopper or conveyor with metal blanks.
• Assure all adjustment i.e. to the ram feed and die protection.
• Achieve or exceed production goals on specified operations
• Perform first piece last piece and in process quality checks
• Ensure that only quality parts are passed on to the next operation and notify supervisor of quality related concerns immediately
• Complete all necessary documentation (production reports quality alerts etc. correctly and in a timely manner.
• Complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimal supervision
• Keeps press area clean and maintains the work area in an orderly condition
• Must understand and perform to the Fundamentals of Manufacturing
• Work efficiently in a team environment
• Ensures all safety devices are in place and functioning while adhering to all safety and operational processes and company policy
• Must operate using job specific PPE
• Safe use of various equipment follow process specifications and meet production standards to manufacture products.
• Perform various operations to supply products to meet customer requirements.
• Use visual inspection gauges and other measurement devices to ensure accurate output and quality of products.
• Understand and utilize all guarding / protection.
• Adhere to procedures relating to the proper use and care of equipment and materials.
• Communicate effectively in both oral and written formats
• Other duties may be assigned

EDUCATION KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• High school diploma or its equivalent is required.
• 2 years machine operation experience in a manufacturing environment required
• Follow written and verbal instructions and company policies regarding safe handling of materials and able to write legibly.
• Must be selfmotivated and a strong team player.
• Excellent attendance and reliability required
• Work with others in a respectful manner and as a member of the team to achieve departmental goals
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Excellent attention to detail and organization required
• Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills
• Must be able to understand and follow all safety rules in facility and performs all safety checks within assigned area to ensure a safe working environment
• Ability to read analyze and interpret business correspondences Safety Notices Control Plans Quality Alerts and Assembly/Packaging instructions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to bend stoop and reach. Must be able to climb up and down as well as work using a ladder.
• Employee is regularly exposed to vibration and occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
• Must be present on the job to perform the assigned duties and be able to work overtime which is often required to meet production schedules

The employee is regularly exposed to varied temperatures due to working in a nonairconditioned facility. In addition the employee is regularly exposed to dust odors oil fumes and a very loud noise environment.
