Where Youll Work:
At Brenner Childrens Hospital our Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) are integral to our commitment to providing exceptional care. Delivering toptier Level II III and IV services our expansive NICU serves over 700 infants annually from across the South. Our team is a passionate group of healthcare professionals including skilled Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNPs) who specialize in treating a wide range of congenital and acquired conditions. By joining our team youll be part of a dedicated and compassionate community committed to providing the highest level of care to the most vulnerable patients.
What Youll Do:
As a valued member of our NICU team the NNP will play a key role in teamfocused patient care conducting thorough examinations and evaluations in medical setting. Responsibilities include:
- Utilizes advanced knowledge and skills to provide nursing and selected medical procedures for neonates and infants
- Communicates and collaborates with appropriate members of the health care team including patient families
- Works to improve the quality of care provided to neonates
- Advances the care of neonates through participation in and application of the research process. Shares knowledge on a formal and informal basis with interdisciplinary team as relates to specialty area
- Ensures the continuous quality of professional services by maintaining updated knowledge and skills
- Maintaining current and valid licensure with the State Board of Nursing to provide continuous nursing services to prevent the spread of bloodborne and/or airborne disease(s)
- Ensures age/developmentally appropriate patient care is provided in accordance with AgeSpecific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served
- Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein
The clinician functions under the regulatory mandate from their respective licensing organization (North Carolina Board of Nursing) with departmental specific credentialing from the institution.
Nurse Practitioner (NNP) Requirements:
- Graduation from accredited Nurse Practitioner Masters Program Masters degree or higher required
- Current North Carolina Board of Nursing Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner license
- Board certified as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner
- Welcoming to new and experienced NNP providers
- BCLS PALS and NRP required
