Position Summary:
- Senior Construction Managers are responsible for the construction of additions alterations renovations and supporting with select groundup construction at The Johns Hopkins Hospital The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and/or various satellite ambulatory locations that require project management support.
- The ideal candidate should possess proficiency delivering all aspects of construction projects including project initiation design budget construction safety/compliance and closeout.
- Senior Project Managers may also be assigned to support aspects of larger projects or department initiatives by Project Executives or the Senior Director as needed. Beyond the required technical skills for this position Senior Project Managers must also possess effective communication interpersonal problemsolving skills with the ability to build positive working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
Essential Duties Functions and Responsibilities:
- Manages renovation tenant fitout and capital renewal projects ranging in cost up to and at times exceeding $20M. Project responsibilities often include tight timelines focused programs difficult logistics and fixed budgets.
- Works cohesively with partner departments such as architecture/planning finance engineering/operations clinical engineering and others on a regular basis.
- Provides exemplary customer service by providing timely and accurate updates to internal team members and the client representative regarding project status budget and schedule.

Project Leadership
- Provides mentorship training and direct support to Project Management staff on assigned projects and as a participant in broader departmental initiatives when applicable.
- Supports in the evaluation implementation and training associated with alternative project delivery methods such as Design/Build Integrated Project Delivery and other relevant delivery methods.
- Work as a mentor to Interns and others as part of the leadership development pathway
Project Initiation
- Reviews program requirements and scope with Client Representative & Users.
- Incorporates Economic Inclusion goals into each project.
- Develops project milestone schedule.
- Manages project documentation and records including budget approval design documents invoicing RFIs submittals etc.
- Proposes project or program changes based on observation and assessment of existing conditions and situations in facility.
- Establishes project deliverable requirements.
Project Design
- Coordinates internal and external project reviews.
- Ensures adherence to internal policies procedures and project management standards.
- Promotes sustainable practices in the project delivery process.
- Reviews project design for adherence to JHHS design standards and client requirements.
- Manages project design to ensure budget and schedule compliance.
- Monitor project deliverables for compliance with project requirements.
- Reviews Economic Inclusion work plans and monitors/verifies participation.
- Monitors design schedule to meet project milestones.
- Review project status and provide risk assessment regarding budget and schedule.
Project Budget
- Establishes maintains and monitors project budget.
- Provides cash flow projections as required.
- Reviews and approves all project invoices.
- Reviews and approves all change events and change orders individually or with senior staff.
- Manages budget forecasts and contingency.
Project Construction
- Coordinates project logistics distribute notification to JHHS and nonJHHS stakeholders.
- Coordinates project outage requirements.
- Ensures adherence to policies procedures and department project management standards.
- Promotes sustainable practices in the project delivery process.
- Monitors project construction for adherence to JHU design standards and client requirements.
- Manages project construction to ensure budget and schedule compliance.
- Monitors construction schedule to meet project milestones.
- Monitors project deliverables for compliance with project requirements.
- Reviews Economic Inclusion work plans and monitors/verifies participation.
- Reviews RFIs and submittals for compliance with project requirements and design standards.
- Reviews project status and provides risk assessment regarding budget and schedule.
- Coordinates and participates in postoccupancy evaluations.

Additional responsibilities applicable to Senior Project Manager II:
- Works independently on projects with highest risk complexity and scale. With minimal oversite.
- Possesses the ability to individually lead projects exceeding $10M.
- Works with departmental leadership on project staffing and team resource allocation.
- Expected to mentor and advise Project Managers and at times Senior Project Manager I on projects as directed.
- Routinely supervises and oversees the work of other team staff on specific projects providing guidance leadership and support.
- Participates in development of standard work practices as part of internal committees.
- Provides direction and oversight to the work of thirdparty project manager firms consultants and other external resources.
- Directly interacted with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) who permit inspect and approve project work to resolve discrepancies.
Required Minimum Education & Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Architecture Engineering Construction Management or related field is preferred. Candidates who possess equivalent advanced technical knowledge via an associate degree training in trades programs vocational or technical school partially completed coursework at a college/university or apprenticeship sponsor organization will be considered.
- Candidates holding a bachelors degree or greater are required to have at least 8 years of project management experience in a comparable position leading or supporting the delivery of construction projects under or above $10M. Individuals who do not possess a college degree are required to have at least 10 years of comparable professional experience.
Education Work Experience:
- Senior Project Manager II No Degree 15 yrs.
- Engineering/Design/Construction Associates Degree 13 yrs
- Engineering/Design/Construction Bachelors Degree 12 yrs.

Salary Range: Minimum52.06per hour Maximum83.31per hour.Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
