JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:

This position is responsible for processes related to submitting generation offers for energy and ancillary services demand forecasts /load bids DRRs/LMRs and Financial Schedules in an ISO market. This includes development and of market strategies to optimize energy committed to an ISO market minimization of market risk for Entergy stakeholders as well as frequent communication with generating plant personnel fossil fuel supply group and real time system dispatchers for implementation and modification of day ahead offers and outage coordination.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Construction and submission of generation offers to ISO market for energy and ancillary services in the day ahead market and submission of demand bids to ISO market to meet native load requirements for the respective Entergy Opcos
  • SupportDevelopment and (depending on job level) of energy marketing strategies in the day ahead markets including optimization of energy committed to ISO market
  • Review of data and market results to evaluate strategy performance and actively use the data and analysis to lead in the creation improvement and of market strategies and processes
  • Assist in market monitoring (depending on job level) and utilize various IT systems and software to lead effort in evaluating and optimizing day ahead commitment of power plants to meet forecast demand under evolving conditions with generation units fuel supply and pricing weather and demand impacts and contractual purchase/sale obligations
  • Participate in relevant industry meetings working groups and lead effort in responding to Opco specific requests
  • Responsible for maintaining a weekly rotation schedule with an oncall responsibility requiring 24hour availability to address answer implement and communicate with generation power plants ongoing plant conditions and availability as well as implement and modify generation planned outages in coordination with generating plant personnel LBA fossil fuel supply group Transmission ISO personnel and real time system dispatchers
  • Frequent and concise communication with generating plant personnel fossil fuel supply group and real time system dispatchers to optimize the energy market performance of the generating units within the Entergy Opcos and to ensure generation unit commitment and purchase power agreement generation are accurate for the day ahead market and align with the real time market strategy to control the overall cost of energy while ensuring system reliability

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Education:

BS/BA in a technical field such as Engineering Finance Accounting Economics or equivalent work experience

Minimum Experience:

  • Energy Mkt Ops Coord II: at least 2 4 years of professional experience (ISO Market experience preferred)
  • Energy Mkt Ops Coord III: at least 4 5 years of professional experience (ISO Market experience preferred)
  • Energy Mkt Ops Coord Sr: at least 5 6 years of professional experience (ISO Market experience preferred)
  • Energy Mkt Ops Coord Sr Lead: 6 years Professional Experience (ISO Market experience is preferred)
  • Preferred:
  • Prior professional electric utility experience
  • Independent System Operator (RTO/ISO) market experience
  • Experience in a power plant generation dispatch center transmission dispatch/operation center or market administration

Minimum Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Energy Mkt Ops Coord IISr:

  • Skilled in using computer software systems used to update and maintain ISO market offers for energy as well as analytical methods and tools to analyze performance and perform complex data analyses. An advanced user of Excel.
  • Expertise in RTO/Power Pool markets and operations Power Plant and/or Power System Operations.
  • Ability to perform analysis from a large volume of data with conflicting results and determine the best solution with superior results.
  • Able to perform all job tasks with no assistance and is recognized as a leader by supervision and/or peers.
  • Able to work weekly rotation schedule with oncall responsibility

Energy Mkt Ops Coord IISr Lead only:

  • Skilled in using computer software systems used to update and maintain ISO market offers for energy as well as analytical methods and tools to analyze performance and perform complex data analyses
  • An advanced user of Excel
  • Expertise in and indepth knowledge of RTO/Power Pool markets and operations Power Plant and/or Power System Operations
  • Able to perform all job tasks with no assistance
  • Recognized as a leader by supervision and/or peers
  • Must be able to work weekly rotation schedule with oncall responsibility
