ROLE

The Senior Database and Integration Engineer is responsible for the oversight optimization and support of SQL database systems and all relevant integrations including Azurebased and onpremises environments. This position ensures these systems deliver high performance reliability and security supporting the firms financial and operational goals.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Technical Leadership
    • Maintain accountability for Azure and onpremises SQL databases.
    • Provide technical leadership to ensure database availability optimization and security.
    • Design implement and maintain cloudbased and onpremises database systems.
  • Database Security
    • Implement and maintain robust security measures across Azure and traditional SQL databases adhering to compliance standards.
  • Provisioning and Maintenance
    • Provision SQL servers instances databases and user logins following best practices.
    • Apply best practices for maintaining updating and decommissioning database systems.
  • High Availability and Disaster Recovery
    • Design and implement High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) procedures including SQL Alwayson configurations.
    • Contribute to disaster recovery plans and ensure integration with business continuity strategies.
  • Data Integration Development
    • Develop reusable scripts and processes to integrate data from diverse sources ensuring accuracy and consistency.
    • Monitor and troubleshoot ETL pipelines and integration processes for performance and reliability.
  • System Monitoring and Optimization
    • Proactively monitor database health respond to alerts and troubleshoot issues.
    • Conduct query tuning performance analysis and optimization.
    • Regularly review system capacity and ensure compliance.
  • Operational Support
    • Provide thirdline application and database administration support.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve escalated issues in a 24x7 support environment.
    • Manage platform upgrades patches and updates.
    • Maintain detailed documentation of workflows processes and system architecture.
    • Ongoing Improvements: Taking lessons learned to continuously improve how we position deliver and operate our technology.
    • Other duties as assigned to fully meet the requirements of the position.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Technical Skills
    • Expertise in Microsoft Azure SQL Database SQL Managed Instances and traditional SQL Server.
    • Expertise with HighAvailability backups and DR configurations.
    • Proficiency in Azure IaaS and PaaS technologies (e.g. Virtual Servers Logic Apps Azure Monitor).
    • Advanced skills in query tuning and performance troubleshooting.
    • Advanced knowledge of PowerShell scripting.
    • Knowledge of integration tools such as SSIS Azure Data Factory and Intapp Integration Builder.
    • Familiarity with Windows Server Active Directory Azure Entra ID and related technologies.
  • Professional Skills
    • Strong analytical problemsolving and decisionmaking abilities.
    • Ability to build effective relationships with internal teams and external vendors.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
    • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
    • Conveys a positive attitude and supports change in team and individual discussions.
    • Responds to pressure in a calm manner; recovers quickly from setbacks.
    • Strong stakeholder management skills and experience.
    • Demonstrates initiative and the ability to be proactive anticipating needs.
    • Flexibility to accommodate working in multiple time zones.


EDUCATION EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience with SQL Systems in enterprise production environments.
  • Azure Database Administrator Associate certification.
  • ITIL certification and practical experience are highly valued.
  • Familiarity with Big Data and alternative databases (e.g. MongoDB PostgreSQL) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with standard legal systems (e.g. iManage DMS Elite InterAction) is a plus
