Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTIONWesthampton Elementary SchoolGrades 36 Intervention Teacher QUALIFICATIONS:Massachusetts Teaching Certificate/License REPORTS TO: Principal District Curriculum Coordinator and SuperintendentJOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Instructional Responsibilities:Provides direct instruction to students identified as eligible for math or reading support services in individual and/or small group settings.Uses identified needs to guide the learning process toward student achievement of the districts content standards. Using students formal and informal assessment data establish clear objectives for all lessons units and projects.Uses a variety of manipulatives and handson activities to support content standards and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.Creates classroom environment and researchbased program of study that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.Can provide both inclass and outofclass instruction and work productively with classroom teachers to provide differentiated instruction for all students.Classroom Responsibilities:Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law district policy administrative guidelines or specific program requirements.Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct and for the classroom develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintains order in the classroom fairly and justly.Make provision for being available to students and parents for educationrelated purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested under reasonable terms.Conducts or participates in needed parent conferences.Assessment Responsibilities:Conducts student assessments to identify those eligible for intervention services plan instruction and/or assist staff members in learning various assessment techniques. Assess the accomplishments of students regularly and provide progress reports as required.Demonstrates a relentless focus on the effective use of time.Collaborates as needed with appropriate school personnel regarding students who may need specialized interventions.Professional Development Responsibilities:Strives to maintain and improve professional competence through professional development activities.Participates in discussions or activities focused on using research to improve math.Participates in staff development focused on the delivery of intervention and assessment.Other duties as assigned by the Principal or his/her designee.District CORI and Fingerprint check are required before employment begins
