Job Description:
Division: Fairfield Prep
Department: Communications & Media
Supervision of Personnel: Assistant Director of Digital Communications Communications Specialist Fairfield University Work Interns
Education: Bachelors degree in communications marketing advertising or a related field.
Experience: Minimum 57 years marketing communications or public relations experience preferably with some experience in independent schools or higher education. Superior oral and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to collaborate widely with various constituencies throughout the community. A demonstrated ability to use current media/technology to communicate and market the schools brand and mission.
Primary Purpose & Function: The Director of Marketing & Communications will manage the development implementation and maintenance of communications that reflect the Jesuit Catholic mission of Fairfield College Preparatory School. This position will report to the President and be responsible for schoolwide publications public and media relations crisis communications advancement support admission and enrollment advertising social media and media planning and the overall strategic direction and for internal and external school communications.
Role & Responsibilities:
Coordinate all Fairfield Prep communications and marketing functions:
Work closely with the President and other members of the leadership team to develop and implement internal and external communications strategies that supports the schools Jesuit Catholic mission and institutional priorities.
Partner with departments across the school to identify communication opportunities that will inform and build positive and productive relationships with key audiences including students parents faculty staff prospective families alumni and the broader community.
Lead the creative process around content creation and production from concept to completion with familiarity of utilizing traditional and new media including video digital and print.
Manage media planning and placement developing media plans via outside agencies digital/print news companies community websites magazines and other.
Manage oncampus staff and Fairfield University interns. Coordinate outside vendors and contractors.
Work closely with the VP for Enrollment Management and the Assoc. VP for Advancement to develop and execute efforts that attract prospective families engage current families and alumni and increase the schools visibility and brand image toward enrollment and philanthropic growth.
Work closely with members of the Advancement Office to oversee the development and implementation of communications for fundraising efforts campaigns and special alumni events (reunions Athletic Hall of Fame and others) plus networking and affinity programs (Prep for Success Alumni Networks etc..
Oversee the writing and design of all nonstudent publications including development of direct mail promotional materials and all newsletters.
Direct the content design printing and distribution of Prep Today magazine the schools biannual publication sent to all stakeholders.
Oversee website content through supervised staff members.
Create the schools crisis communications including collaboration with the Fairfield University VP of Marketing & Communications
Manage the Brand Book for usage in external and internal communications to ensure compliance (school logos mission and guidelines for approved Prep social media channels)
Monitor and track effectiveness of digital media plans and social media SEO and SEM.
Attend key school and athletic events work with Communications staff to provide social media photography and video. Hire outside photographers and videographers as needed.
