The Opportunity:
The Research Technician will be a member of the science team atWSU (Washington State University) IAREC (Irrigated Agriculture Research & Extension Center) in Prosser WA. This position will perform professionallevel work in support of research activities in science. The incumbent will perform a wide range of complex duties requiring advanced knowledge which include but are not limited to:
Assist in conducting science research in lab greenhouse and field conditions.
Set up and maintain field research trials.
Apply herbicide treatments record and analyze data prepare summary reports.
Operate maintain calibrate and modify equipment used for science.
Maintain chemical inventory.
Order supplies and equipment for research when needed.
Supervise parttime/student employees.
Additional Information:
This is a fulltime 100 FTE) temporary position. This position is overtime eligible.
Temporary End Date: This is a temporary position expected to end 12 months after hire date. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.
Monthly Salary: $3833.00 $4450.00 Commensurate with experience and qualifications
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidates current experience education skills and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
A Bachelors degree in a relevant field of study or equivalent related field experience performing professionallevel work with scientific or clinical research protocols. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a yearforyear basis.
Experimental and analytical skills; understanding and knowledge of research theory; interviewing experience; excellent organizational and project management skills.
Position requires a high school graduation or equivalent.
Experience with MS Excel and Agriculture Statistical software.
Must have a valid Washington State Pesticide Applicators license or ability to obtain one within 3 months of being hired.
Must have or be able to obtain by time of hire a valid drivers license and meet requirements in accordance withSPPM 7.10and departmental driving standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in applied science/ agricultural research
Experience driving tractor and operating and maintaining field equipment (planters harvesters fertilizer spreaders)
Knowledge or experience in growing agronomic or horticultural crops
Ability to calibrate field or plot sprayers
Experience in Research data handling
