Job Description

TITLE OF POSITION:

Anticipated 1.0 Special Education Teacher Therapeutic Classroom

LOCATION:

Eddy Elementary School

DESCRIPTIVE STATEMENT

OF POSITION:

  • Provide direct speciallydesigned instruction to elementary school students on individualized education plans (IEPs) that support progress towards achieving their goals and objectives in a therapeutic setting;
  • Provide a predictable structured classroom setting with clear expectations and routines;
  • Work closely with general education teachers direct service providers BCBA paraeducators and counselor to provide student wraparound services in a therapeutic setting;
  • Modify the general education curriculum for students on IEPs to ensure student progress towards goals and access to the general education curriculum;
  • Ability to collect and analyze data and write and implement IEPs;
  • Knowledge of best practices around differentiating instruction for students;
  • Safety Care trained or willing to be trained and utilization of these interventions;
  • Ability to directly provide inclusion services related to student IEP goals and objectives in the general education classroom;
  • Ability to provide guidance and support to paraeducators to work towards students IEP goals and objectives;
  • Ability to communicate regularly with all members of the special education team including parents and caretakers to ensure that students are making progress;
  • Implement PBIS and other behavior modification modalities for students with emotional regulation difficulties;
  • Ability to be flexible have a positive attitude and be a lifelong learner is necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Massachusetts DESE certification in Special Education required moderate or severe. Safety Caretrained or ability to be trained (the district can provide this training if needed). Understanding and use of ABA principles. Highly qualified and experience preferred.

Per prevailing contract
