CASHIER JOB SUMMARY
The cashier is responsible for taking orders processing cash and credit card transactions and serving ordered food and drink to guests in a professional manner. The position is also responsible for maintaining a clean and organized Restaurant and performing all other duties assigned by the management team members.
CASHIER ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Meet all performance expectations and comply with all Company policies as set forth in the Employee Handbook including but not limited to all performance attendance and conduct requirements
- Provide exemplary customer service in a professional manner
- Enter orders accurately and promptly in the Toast POS system
- Process cash and credit card transactions
- Following proper cash handling procedures
- Accurately quote wait times to customers for their orders
- Provide necessary cups for NA beverages as well as wine or beer upon order
- Serve ordered food and drink items
- Assist with packing up to go orders and handing them to customers
- Perform instructed side work
- Restock all togo products at the end of each shift
- Serve beer and alcohol in compliance of all ABC laws and policies only if cashier is 18 years or older
- Ensure proper set up and break down of stations before and after operating hours
- Maximize all marketing of Restaurant including social media
- Complete any and all assigned cleaning duties including stocking organization bussing tables and taking out the trash
- Attend all departmental and service training seminars as requested or assigned
- Any additional responsibilities as directed by the General Manager
CASHIER SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE SKILL AND ABILITY
- Ability to read write and speak the English language to interact with customers the public and employees
- Good verbal communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and professionally deal with stressful situations during busy periods in a loud busy and crowded environment
- Good interpersonal skills to provide overall customer satisfaction
- Must have extensive knowledge of food and beverage etiquette customer relations and service standards
- Knowledge of proper food handling requirements
- Basic mathematical skills
- Knowledge of daily maintenance and cleaning of Restaurant
- Knowledge and proficiency with Toast POS system and cash handling reports
- Must have knowledge of all required legal documents i.e. A.B.C. Health Department Police City Etc.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Education
High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
Experience
Minimum of two years experience in a fastpaced restaurant/bar
Age
Must be at least 21 to meet minimum age requirement of the State of California to serve alcoholic beverages
Licenses or Certificates
Food Handlers Card
ABC Service Certification
CPR certification and/or First Aid training preferred
GROOMING
All employees must wear the proper uniform and maintain a neat clean and wellgroomed appearance in accordance with the Companys grooming standards. This policy is implemented in compliance with the Companys obligations related to accommodating religious beliefs and practices medical conditions and disabilities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- Must be able to work in an environment with constantly elevated temperatures
- Must be able to work and move quickly in a tightspace environment in a safe manner without disrupting other employees
- Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs.
