Job Description:
A Senior Supervisor for the Maritime Power Systems Division Philadelphia location is responsible for the management of an operations function. Ensures we meet quality control standards while maintaining schedule and cost requirements to meet customer contract requirements. This individual will report to the Maritime Power Systems Sr. Mgr. of Operations in Philadelphia.
Essential Job Functions & Duties
- Direct work of employees to meet quality and ontime delivery requirements; address production challenges and communicate to appropriate leadership in a timely manner.
- Implement and sustain success metrics incorporating best practices and effectively communicating improvements
- Monitor team productivity and provide constructive feedback mentorship and performance management as needed
- Perform scheduling and timekeeping for direct reports or others as assigned.
- Ensure that personnel are retrained/reauthorized to maintain efficient support to production
- Ensuring that employees are meeting their individual job responsibilities and helping them to improve if they are not performing well
- Maintain expectations for Direct Labor Utilization
- Communicate with team leaders to ensure task completion by deadlines while assuring alignment to the defined Hours Per Unit (HPU)
- Work alongside the Continuous Improvement Teams direction as we strive to better the workflow cleanliness and overall appearance of the shopfloor. (includes participation in Kaizen events 6S initiatives etc.
- Collaborate with Program Management Supply Chain and other functional organizations across the Philadelphia Site to manage product flow
- Other direction as assigned.
Job Qualification Requirements:
Bachelors Degree with a minimum of 4 years prior relevant experience. In lieu of a degree minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- United States Citizenship required with ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
- Experience in an Operations function leadership role
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Bachelors degree in business management engineering or similar field
- Experience in manufacturing environment
- An effective communicator at all levels of the organization
- Proven ability to identify performance issues and implement the necessary changes in a timely and effective manner
- Good technical skills to recognize and solve assembly and related production problems to maintain workflow
- Indepth knowledge and understanding of manufacturing methods lean methodology production planning quality management systems
- Experience in union represented environments
