Job Description:

The Automotive Technology Instructor is responsible for performing all aspects of instruction for assigned program to include but not limited to implementing revising and evaluating assigned program area curriculum; utilizing all resources available to innovate and to change to meet evolving program and industry needs. The Automotive Technology Instructor provides uptodate skills training and instruction to meet the learning needs of students. TSTC faculty deliver approved curriculum content and assessments in an applied learning environment. Responsibilities include facilitation of activities and discussions that engage a range of learning styles with targeted guidance and mentorship to students. Faculty will also interpret and administer assessments and offer constructive feedback to support student growth and learning outcomes. A key part of the role is to integrate technology effectively to enrich the educational act as ambassadors for their programs and TSTC.

Hiring Range for this position is $59585 to $68523

The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidates qualifications and experience.

Technical Instructors at TSTC benefit from a small class capacity typically ranging between 15 20 students with an average of 1520 per class. Courses are structured to include a brief lecture session followed by handson laboratory activities maximizing engagement and practical learning. While on campus instructors are expected to be available for tutoring supplementing scheduled teaching requirements and student recruiting events. At TSTC all technical courses incorporate inperson laboratory tasks. A typical day involves teaching one or two courses with instructors potentially managing 3 to 4 courses depending on student enrollment. Occasionally Technical Instructors may be tasked with additional courses reflecting fluctuating enrollment demands. The standard workday spans from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm MonFri with occasional evening or weekend commitments. Additionally opportunities exist to provide extracurricular training for industry professionals.

AAS in Automotive Technology
7 years plus automotive related industry experience
ASE Certifications: G1 A1A8 Master Automobile Technician L1 All locations L2 Har & SWT L3 Waco & Ft. Bend
EPA 609 certification
Diagnose and repair Advanced Driver Assist Systems
Have working knowledge of Hybrid and Electrical vehicles
Diagnose and repair bus network systems
Overhaul automatic and manual transmissions/transaxles
Diagnose and repair fuel ignition and emission systems
Retrieve and understand diagnostic trouble codes and technical service bulletins
Service repair and maintain light duty diesel vehicles

Preferred Education
Bachelors degree in a closely related teaching discipline

Required Skills Knowledge and Certifications or Licenses
Read and understand wiring diagrams perform resistance checks and measure voltage drops
Check and adjust all fluid levels as needed
Perform tire pressure monitoring system service and repairs
Repair and rebuild automotive gasoline engines
Perform 4 wheel alignments steering and suspension repairs and supplemental restraint system diagnosis
Service repair and maintain hydraulic brake systems to include ABS
Service maintain and repair automotive HVAC 134a & 1234yf systems
5 years in automotive industry related experience
ASE Certifications: G1 A1A8 Master Automobile Technician

Required Education
Associate degree in a closely related field and demonstrated qualifications in the technologys teaching discipline
Verifiable professional experience may be accepted in lieu of other requirements as approved by the Vice Chancellor who oversees academic programs or his/her designee*
