The Opportunity
The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) in Orlando FL invites applicants for multiple fulltime 9month nontenure earning lecturer associate lecturer senior lecturer instructor associate instructor or senior instructor positions with an anticipated start date of August 8 2025. The selected candidates will join an existing group of faculty adjunct faculty and industryprofessionals in the delivery of the MAE Capstone Design program. The primary responsibility for these positions will be teaching capstone design courses and serving as faculty advisors to interdisciplinary student teams at the senior undergraduate level. This opportunity is expected to be a teamteaching collaborative role.
The Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Senior Design (Capstone) program currently offers courses yearround and anticipates the need for continued supplemental summer teaching support. These positions would be expected to support this schedule.
Minimum Qualifications:
An earned doctorate (for lecturer) or masters degree (for instructor) in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution by the time of the application.
Placement within the appropriate track may be determined by either academic or positionrelevant industry experience. A minimum of 6 years of experience is required for associatelevel placement and a minimum of 12 years of experience is required for seniorlevel placement.
Preferred Qualifications:
Practical engineering experience and an understanding of teamwork and communication in the context of the design process. Experience in an industry setting as a project manager or equivalent is a plus.
Experience supervising or instructing universitylevel capstone design teams or industrybased product/project development teams.
Design experience and background in one or more of the following areas is preferred:
Aerospace (propulsion UAS/UAV design structures)
Mechanical (manufacturing robotics/mechatronics controls)
Biomedical (assistive/therapeutic devices).
