Lactation Consultant II Full Time Days

Work location:Texas Health Rockwall 3150 Horizon Rd Rockwall TX 75032
Work hours: Full Time 36 hours weekly day schedule including weekends

Heres What You Need
- Associates degree in Nursing required or
- Bachelors degree in Nursing preferred
- 1 year experience as a registered nurse completion of an RN residency program or THR residency program required
- 1 year of Lactation or Mother/Baby experience strongly preferred; Nursery experience a plus
- Texas RN Registered Nurse required upon hire and
- BCLS Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care required upon hire and maintained quarterly
- NRP Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program required within 90 days of hire and
- IBCLC Lactation Consultant required within 2 years of hire
- A high degree of confidentiality positive interpersonal skills and ability to function in a fastpaced environment.
What You Will Do
- Functions as an expert resource on breastfeeding issues for patients families community staff and physicians. Serves as a clinical expert for lactation issues based on evidence.
- Produces documentation that initiates follows and revises patients plan of care.
- Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to improve care processes that promote continuity of care.
- Reviews patient medications for potential complications associated with breastfeeding.
- Assesses outpatients for symptoms of jaundice and breastfeeding problems.
- Participates in breast pump rental and retail sales within the Breastfeeding Resource Center.
