This position participates in a Career Progression Group (CPG) and may be filled as a Fireman / Fireman Advanced. The level at which the vacancy is filled will be determined by the qualifications of the candidate selected. This position provides the opportunity to advance within this job series.
The actual starting salary depends on the education and experience of the selected applicant.

Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
One year of experience in fire prevention or fire suppression as a firefighter; OR
Military service in any capacity plus six months of experience in fire prevention or fire suppression as a firefighter.Job Concepts
Function of Work:
To protect life and property against fire within an agency.
Level of Work:
Experienced.
Supervision Received:
General from a Fireman Supervisor.
Supervision Exercised:
None.
Location of Work:
All state agencies.
Job Distinctions:
Differs from Fireman Supervisor by lack of supervisory responsibility.Examples of Work
Conducts fire drills and attends fire drill training.
Cleans and maintains equipment and operates fire vehicles.
Inspects buildings to prevent fires and prepares reports.
Attacks and extinguishes structural fires.
Evacuates buildings and fights fires.
Attends training in fire prevention fire fighting and fire safety.
Performs emergency medical/first aid techniques to injured victims.
