About IPSD

Caterpillars Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine Petroleum Industrial Applications Electric Generators and Locomotives. Job Summary

As a Maintenance Technician II at Caterpillar youll bring your expertise to ensure the reliability and efficiency of our advanced production systems supporting the machining of our C9 engine block. Youll be responsible for diagnosing troubleshooting and repairing complex equipment performing preventive maintenance and supporting continuous improvement projects. Youll work independently on more challenging mechanical and electrical issues while collaborating with engineers to optimize system performance. What you will do:

  • Perform preventive corrective and predictive maintenance on production materialhandling and hightech automated equipment in the facilitys buildings in accordance with work orders and technical documentation
  • Respond to operational calls for troubleshooting/diagnosing problems with assembly systems and equipment
  • Operate troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical assembly (i.e. fork trucks conveyors and robotic equipment)
  • Exercise knowledge of industrial electricity including singlephase and threephase power motors protective devices and photo sensors
  • Respond to service requests with little or no supervision and without interrupting production operations
  • Provide professional development and onthejob training to level 1 maintenance technicians
  • Work as a contributing member of the maintenance team to provide the best service and maximize uptime of the production facilities
  • Monitor maintenance upkeep checklists to ensure efficient equipment operation
  • Complete work order processes documentation for complete work history and parts inventory tracking
  • Submit and assist with the creation and resolution of Continuous Improvement Cards
  • Document and correct safety issues to maintain a safe work environment
  • Work cooperatively as a team with engineering operations logistics janitorial quality and environmental health and safety departments

What you will have:

  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in maintaining troubleshooting and repairing industrial/electrical production equipment in a manufacturing or operations environment or possess a relevant certification or degree in lieu of experience
  • Intermediate experience using hand tools power tools and basic maintenance tasks like lubrication cleaning and inspections
  • Intermediate mechanical knowledge of basic machines (pulleys levers etc. pneumatics hydraulics gears reducers bearings lubrication theory drive components (sheaves sprockets chain belts takeups) and equipment alignment.
  • Must be familiar with electronics such as photo sensors PLCs remote I/Os servo drives and variable frequency drives

What would make you a top candidate:

  • Experience working in a team environment and willingness to train/mentor less experienced technicians
  • Intermediate knowledge with AC/DC theory relays switches solenoids fuses breakers power generation and distribution (including 480V 3phase) electrical safety lockout/tagout procedures National Electric Code digital multimeter operation and motor theory and protection
  • Intermediate knowledge with mechanical knowledge of basic machines (pulleys levers etc. pneumatics hydraulics gears reducers bearings lubrication theory drive components (sheaves sprockets chain belts takeups) and equipment alignment.
  • Intermediate knowledge with PM procedures including performing PMs logging completion etc.
  • Intermediate knowledge with production facilitys systems including conveyors robotic equipment and (ASRS AKL and Auto Guided Vehicles (AGVs)
  • Intermediate knowledge with reading and understand mechanical and building blueprints as well as electrical schematics

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to perform repetitive operations
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.

Summary Pay Range:

$25.50 $33.00
