Description Jr. Counselors (JCs) generally have some or no experience working with schoolage students and work collaboratively with and under the guidance of Seniors. JCs may be asked to perform more individual specific tasks as the SC oversees the entire group.JCs are a key part of the team who demonstrate what is expected of all counselors and understand the importance of role modeling as they are the first stage in a career working at camp. Dates and Hours Training: Week of June 2 Camp: June 9 August 8 generally from 8:453:45 Regular Job Duties Under the supervision of Unit Heads in conjunction with their bunks Sr. Counselor general daily responsibilities include but arent limited to: - Care and general welfare of everyone in their bunk; safety is top priority
- Assisting campers/bunks in transitions between activities to and from the pool to and from the bathroom and during check in/check out
- Providing small activity options for campers to pivot who do not want to participate in the group activity
- Collaborate with Sr. Counselor when dealing with any camper issue or misbehavior; may fill out or assist with completing an incident report
- Supporting and facilitating highquality daily activities for our campers
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications - 16 years of age or older
- Prior experience working with children families or other related roles
- Actively utilizes empathy patience and intentional positivity in the workplace
- Able to take direction from senior staff
- Able to pivot from planned activities on short notice
- Ability to accept guidance constructive feedback and support from teammates
- Ability to sit stand kneel and stretch for long periods of time
- Ability to work outside in high degree temperatures
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
