Job Description

      • FullTime Special Education Resource Teacher
        Location Hamden CT

        Position Overview:

        The School is seeking a dedicated and studentfocused Special Education Resource Teacher to provide individualized instruction and support to students with disabilities. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with general education teachers families and support staff to create inclusive learning environments that promote academic and socialemotional growth.

        Key Responsibilities:Instruction & Student Support:
        • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to students unique needs.
        • Provide smallgroup and oneonone instruction to support students in achieving academic goals.
        • Adapt and modify curriculum to align with Connecticut Core Standards and student learning styles.
        • Utilize evidencebased strategies for literacy math executive functioning and behavioral support.
      • Collaboration & Communication:
        • Partner with general education teachers to support students in inclusive classrooms.
        • Work closely with parents caregivers and related service providers to foster student success.
        • Participate in IEP meetings parentteacher conferences and team planning sessions.
      • Assessment & Progress Monitoring:
        • Conduct formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress.
        • Maintain accurate documentation of student performance and intervention effectiveness.
        • Regularly review and adjust instructional strategies based on datadriven decisionmaking.
      • Compliance & Professionalism:
        • Ensure compliance with IDEA Section 504 and Connecticut State Special Education regulations.
        • Maintain confidentiality and advocate for students educational rights.
        • Stay current with best practices in special education through professional development.
      • Qualifications:
        • Education: Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field Masters preferred.
        • Certification: Valid Connecticut Special Education Teaching Certification 165 or appropriate endorsement) required.
        • Experience: Prior experience working with students with diverse learning needs preferred but not required.
        • Skills:
          • Strong instructional and classroom management skills.
          • Excellent collaboration and communication abilities.
          • Knowledge of assistive technology differentiation and inclusive practices.
      • Preferred Qualifications:
        • Experience with coteaching and inclusion models.
        • Familiarity with PBIS SocialEmotional Learning (SEL) and behavior intervention strategies.
        • Proficiency in IEP software and progress monitoring tools.
      • Work Environment & Schedule:
        • Fulltime position following theSchools academic calendar.
        • Based in an elementary or middle school setting working with a diverse student population.
