Summary of Job Duties:
The Program Associate Hay Verification Coordinator will be responsible for implementing the goals and objectives of the Arkansas Hay Verification program and the Arkansas Hay Land Resource Conservation and Research Verification Grant to improve the understanding of soil fertility nutrient management and forage crop management for hay production.
The Program Associate will operate in an independent decisionmaking role in the planning and executing the Hay Verification program. Dr. Bronc Finch (Supervisor) coordinates work objectives but implementation will be primarily the responsibility of the Program Associate.
The Program Associate communicates and collaborates with extension and research faculty staff cooperating producers and other stakeholders as needed to effectively contribute to the goals and objectives of the Arkansas Hay Verification program.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelors degree in Soil Science Agronomy or a related field plus 3 years of related professional experience OR a related Masters degree is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Masters degree in Soil Science Agronomy or a related field is preferred.
- Experience background in forage crop or pasture lands management and/or soil fertility nutrient management experience.
- Experience with data collection in agricultural settings data analysis andcoordinating with County Agricultural Agents Extension Specialists Researchers and farmers is preferred.
- Current Arkansas Pesticide Application License.
- Current FAA part107 Remote Pilot License.
- Experience in operating and maintaining equipment with the ability to repair equipment upon failure is preferred.
- Leadership experience motivation and creativity are desirable traits as well.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
- The person hired for this position must be able to work outside during heat conditions andcold conditions in fall winter or spring.
- The ability to travel with thepotential of long working hours that may include occasional overnight stays.
- Ability and willingness to secure and maintain an Arkansas Pesticide Application License and FAA part 107 Remote Pilot License.
- Commitment to fostering a diverse collaborative and collegial work environment.
- Good written and verbal communication skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications data management and email programs.
- A demonstrated high level of technical competence in the assigned area of study.
- Ability to implement field research and demonstrations collect associated data organize and summarize data and write technically competently.
- Preferred ability to develop and deliver quality presentations.
- Exercise initiative and sound judgment and work without close supervision while maintaining the ability to respond to the needs of supervisors subordinates and clientele.
