Description: The HPS Extended School Year (ESY) Program is for students in grades PK 12 who qualify for extended year services per their IEPs. The goal of the program is to prevent regression of learned and/or progressing skills during the Summer months.
Locations for this summer are: Donahue School (Preschool K2 ABL/RISE) Kelly School 35 ABL/RISE) Morgan 12 35 Sullivan School 68 ABL TIP SHINE) Jericho (Inclusion) or Transitions Academy depending on students IEP needs district needs and/or grade level. The HPS ESY Program runs from Monday 7/7/25Thursday 8/7/25 from 8:45 am1:15 pm. There will be a required staff orientation day on Thursday 6/26/25 with an optional additional prep on Friday 6/27/25 from 9:00 am1:00 pm.

Job description:
- Participates in Staff Orientation Day on Thursday 6/26/25 with option for additional prep on Friday 6/27/25.
- Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of vocational material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
- Accompanies travel and provides direct support to students at off campus work sites.
- Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom and work sites for instructional purposes.
- Helps students master equipment and/or instructional materials assigned by the teacher and site supervisor.
- Assists in the implementation of behavioral modification programs as directed and supervised by the teacher and site supervisor. Keep behavioral logs and data (daily and weekly).
- Assists students with mobility and personal care as needed.
- Assists with lunch snack and cleanup routines as needed.
- Dress for physical activities so you can assist students.
- Meets the buses and assist students in breakfast and lunch routines
- Assists site supervisor teachers and related staff for the purpose of supporting lesson plans and/or developing students vocational skills.
- Collects proper documentation for the purpose of meeting the required items for program participation and/or parent/guardian approval.
- Monitors student performance in a variety of work sites according to program guidelines (e.g. visits job sites obtains employer evaluations serves as a liaison between employer & student etc. for the purpose of identifying areas requiring additional training on techniques and methods for maintaining solid work habits.
Qualifications:
- Associates Degree or higher; Completing at least two years or 48 credit hours of study at an institution of higher education OR taking and passing a formal assessment measuring ones knowledge of and ability to assist classroom teachers in reading writing and mathematics. - Training or experience working with children and/or adults with disabilities.
- Experience working in an urban setting preferred
- Experience working with diverse student populations preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent teamwork skills
