    QUALIFICATIONS

    1. Arizona Standard Special Education Teaching Certificate
    2. Master degree preferred in Special Education or related field
    3. Five 5)years ofSpEd teaching experience or strong foundation of knowledge in educating students with disabilities
    4. Experience with various special education platforms and databases analyzing data progress monitoring development of individual education programs (IEPs)
    5. CPI and CPR certified preferred
    6. Knowledge skill and or experience in the implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) strategies or be willing to receive training in those strategies

    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
    1. Ability to demonstrate strong leadership presentation and organizational skills.
    2. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
    3. Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
    4. Ability to demonstrate interpersonal and problemsolving skills.
    5. Ability to work with and apply basic course content for students and understand educational goals and objectives.
    6. Knowledge of accepted behavior management techniques and practices working with persons with disabilities.
    7. Ability to work with a diverse population of staff and students.
    8. Knowledge of ADE Special Education policies timelines and procedures.
    9. Ability to operate computer equipment for email communications word processing data management and other assigned tasks as related to the position.
    10. Ability to operate standard office equipment and database software programs.
    11. Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
    12. Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff students parents and community members.
    13. Utilize with fidelity the District Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) program at the building level.
    14. Attention to detail for managing department and program documentation.
    15. Empathy patience and a genuine passion for working with students with disabilities.
    16. Ability to understand and maintain students and parents rights to confidentiality and not violate those rights; nor discuss students in inappropriate places or with anyone not in direct contact with such individual students.
    17. Ensure information obtained through the course of duties associated with this position is held in the highest of confidentiality.
    18. Perform all duties in accordance with Federal and State laws district procedures and Board policies including mandatory reporting procedures.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    1. Ensure that individual education programs (IEP) progress monitoring is collected and documented for quarterly progress reports and annual IEP meetings.
    2. Facilitate regular site professional learning communities (PLCs) for site ESS staff for improving instruction data collection and implementing IEP services and supports.
    3. Communicate with department Director for improving specially designed instruction (SDI) gathering of data for present levels and IEP compliance.
    4. Provide supports in developing professional development opportunities for special education and general education staff.
    5. Mentor observe collaborate and coach special education teachers in delivery and collection of SDI and in aligning instructional strategies for SDI or individual interventions.
    6. Observe and coach special education paraeducators in reinforcing SDI data collection and progress monitoring.
    7. Regular monitor special education programs timelines and progress monitoring for integrity and fidelity.
    8. Collect and monitor student achievement data.
    9. Review assessment data regularly with principals and make recommendations for instructional implications and/or remediation plans.
    10. Meet with grade level teachers to monitor student achievement.
    11. Attend regularly scheduled Instructional Coach meetings at the District Office.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

    While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to reach with hands and arms sit stand walk stoop and bend as necessary. The employee maylift carry push pull or otherwise move objects weighing a minimum of 10 pounds and could occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds. The employee will read correspondence and computer screens and use the telephone.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT
    Indoor environment. This position regularly works indoors. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate and may become excessively noisy at times. Will have substantial contact with parents students staff and the public.

    ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
    The ESS Instructional Coach reports to the Director of Exceptional Student Services. The ESS Instructional Coach will interact cooperatively with all other staff positions. All elements of good human relations will be practiced.
