Job Description
Huntington Ingalls Industries Mission Technologies (HIIMT) is actively seeking PartTime candidates with Government Military or Industry specialized technical engineering or specialty capability lead experience for placement on our Tech Center SME team. The team provides needed expert support to our operations program teams & Government customers. Our SMEs also serve as the foundation to our organizations technical advisory to our senior leaders maintain our expertise & techbase and provide professional development & mentorship opportunities for our workforce.
We are seeking individuals to add to our team of TechArea SMEs with applied expertise in one or more of the following technical competency area examples:
Agile & Open Software Development Agile & DevSecOps development processes organizations requirements and tools. Application experience with objectoriented programming languages microservices data structures algorithms and software testing methods. Stateofpractice level knowledge of DoD Open Systems approaches (e.g. Open Mission Systems Big Iron Framework or others).
Electronic Warfare Design Operations or Deployment of electronic warfare systems to include the stateofpractice of current EW systems techniques and modern challenges. May include DoD operational design or test experience.
Cyber Security & InfoWarfare To include Offensive / Defensive operations capabilities or acquisition expertise in applied Risk Management Framework (RMF). May include DoD operational design or support experience and keycertifications.
Data Sciences & Algorithm Development Mathematics or physics expertise to support novel algorithm development across a wide array of user applications (incl. Communications Sensing Data Fusion and Electronic Warfare). Experience in stateofpractice approaches to Cognitive Machine Learning or AI algorithm development training and testing methods.
Space Systems Design Operations or Deployment of space systems & spacebased capabilities (e.g. Ground Operations & Support Launch Bus Payload Communications or Sensors). May include DoD operational design or test experience.
RF Systems & Sensors Design Operations or Deployment of RF systems to include Radar Electronic Warfare Communications Software Defined Radios & FPGAbased systems or other capabilities. May include DoD operational design or test experience.
RF Photonics Devices Stateofpractice level expertise in the design & fabrication of RF Photonics devices. To include applications for RF Signal Generation and Communications.
Model Based Engineering (MBE) & Digital Twins Applications of industry MBE Tools for system modeling requirements development design and evaluation. Programlevel analysis to identify business usecases where MBE approached may add efficiencies. Development of digital twins in mixedfidelity demonstration & test environments.
This position is managed from Dayton Ohio. However the role is mission driven and candidates can be located in Dayton Ohio colocated at other business sites or fully remote.
The pay range for this role is $70$95/hour depending on the candidates unique education background and experience levels. This position can support cleared and uncleared applicants.
Essential Job Responsibilities
The Tech Center is a growing and highly flexible matrixed organization. Our team of SMEs & Technical Advisors engages across our portfolio of programs & companies. They are not limited to working on a single project or task.
Our candidates work activities are scoped based on each persons specific expertise areas the needs of both the candidate (e.g. availability & parttime flexibility desired work scope & tasks continued professional development) the needs of direct customer projects (e.g. specific project taskings and contractual or deliverable obligations) and ongoing company initiatives they are supporting (strategic planning roles customer engagements corporate activities etc..
Example activities range from direct support to DoD customer programs (e.g. studies & analysis advisory or other parttime roles in your related field) contributing to our business opportunities (e.g. strategic goals & strategy development technical solutions & whitepapers supporting RFI or proposal development teams and internal research & development (IRAD) projects. In addition our team routinely participates in or leads internal professional development initiatives (e.g. mentorship continuous learning or organizational quality improvements).
Minimum Qualifications
15 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 13 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or 10 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field.
Bachelors Degree in related Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) or Business Administration
Candidates must possess expert level knowledge & breadth of applied experience in their related fields to be considered a Subject Matter Expert (SME)
Candidates will demonstrate qualities inherent with technicalleadership experience such as ability to: analyze plan and adjust work operations to meet requirements and objectives within available resources; adapt standard techniques/processes to perform complex tasks; plan organize and mentor junior managers & employees.
Candidates may be required to obtain or maintain a minimum of a SECRET clearance and access commensurate to their involvement with the USG. Candidates will be subject to investigation as required by the NISPOM ICD 704 processes DoD Manual 5205.07 Volume 2 and any additional Government Policy or Directives as determined by the Cognizant Security Agency. Candidates may be subject to a polygraph and enhanced security review. However those without current security clearances may also apply!
Preferred Requirements
Masters Degree or PhD is highly desired in a related STEM fields (e.g. Engineering Science Mathematics Physics or Technical field).
Demonstrated experience in DoD (USAF or other DoD service) acquisition programs for aerospace systems.
Demonstrated experience in an engineering or technical lead position (e.g. Government Military or Industry level Program Engineers Lead Engineers Technical Advisors Technical Program Leads Team/Branch Level Leadership).
Previously Published Research or contributions to Technical Organizations.
