Job Description

Substitute School Resource Assistant

Days and Hours as Needed

Required:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent
  2. Educational Aide Permit
  3. Honesty
  4. Confidentiality
  5. Work as a member of a team
  6. Ability to take directions
  7. Good attendance

Desirable:

  1. Previous law enforcement experience
  2. Previous experience with children in a learning environment

Objective:

To assist administration and all staff in maintaining a safe and optimal learning environment.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of a School Resource Assistant include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Assistant with supervising student behavior in study halls cafeterias AM/PM buses Class Transitions Assemblies Lavatories In School suspension and after school activities
  2. Assisting in supervising student and visitor activity on the exterior of the school buildings
  3. Conduct home visits for truancy address verification and/or discipline concerns
  4. Assist with the removal of students and/or visitors from classrooms and/or buildings
  5. Be assigned an area of building at appropriate times and know objectives of that area.
  6. Knowledge of all entrance procedures parent pick up/drop off and emergency protocols
  7. Enforce Student Code of Conduct and All school policies on a daily basis
  8. Excellent communication with all building administration and staff
  9. Intervention and/or mediation with students dealing with school based situations
  10. Knowledge of all appropriate referrals when dealing with Mental Health and/or Trauma situations
  11. Transporting students when necessary (required Van Driving Training)
  12. Assist with attendance procedures.
  13. Willing to work nontraditional hours in order to cover after school activities and/or extracurricular events
  14. Ability to use proper communication daily by use of Radios
  15. Perform all other duties assigned by Building Administration and Supervisor of Safety and Security
  16. Ability to communicate effectively with all Safety Forces and First Responders
  17. Ability to conduct safety drills at assigned building(s)
  18. Other duties as assigned

Training:

  1. CCSD Emergency Protocols and Procedures
  2. First Aid and CPR AEDs
  3. ICS Coursesand 800
  4. Stark County Emergency Training (online)
  5. CPI Trained
