Job Description

Summary

Ensures that standards of quality cost safety reliability timeliness and performance are met throughout all engineering activities.
Engineering design implementation and day to day operations of supervisory control systems (SCADA/EMS) networks communications and machine control systems (PLC/DCS/HMI/RTU) in support of NYPA G&T assets

Looking for experience with the following control systems and their equivalent:

  • Emerson Ovation DCS
  • Rockwell PLCs
  • Voith Turbine Controllers
  • OSI Monarch SCADA
  • Siemens Power TG SCADA
  • SEL RTACs #LIVB1

Responsibilities

  • Provide lead engineer function in support of a limited range of control system design implementation and modification projects and operations and maintenance activities/practices.
  • Perform field visits to complete field inspections condition assessments and equipment evaluations and develop basic technical recommendations
  • Implement and execute NERC CIP and cyber securities policies procedures and technical solutions
  • Select and apply codes standards and procedures to work tasks appropriately. Independently coordinate cross disciplinary activities for the successful development and of projects.
  • Provide direction and review in the development of project engineering documents and submittals.
  • Must be able to provide 24/7 oncall support to operating facilities.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Competency in the design operation and maintenance of Operations Technology control systems specific to the electric utility industry.
  • Fundamental knowledge of Operations Technology control systems and their components.
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes standards and regulations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Collaborative and teamoriented with ability to build relationships with vendors and stakeholders.
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations and complete specifications scopes of work reports and interdisciplinary design packages.
  • Ability to coordinate the technical and commercial aspects of projects.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Physical ability to navigate industrial sites which may include climbing bending or working in confined spaces.

Education Experience and Certifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Computer Science from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of five 5 years related work experience.
  • Preferred certifications include: NY State Engineer in Training certification and/or certifications in Computer Science/Operations Technology
  • Valid Drivers License

Physical Requirements

  • Approximately 20 travel primarily within NY State
  • Must be able to provide 24/7 oncall support to operating facilities.
