What You Will Contribute:

With a vibrant collaborative culture SmartCover A Badger Meter Brand is looking to hire a Field Service Technician at our Northern California location. As a 2025 addition to the 120 year journey of Badger Meter to measure and manage the worlds most precious resource water SmartCover is a pioneering technology brand serving the water and wastewater industry. Driven by the mission to safeguard public health protect the environment and preserve the quality of life SmartCover technology has supported essential infrastructure response teams across North America preventing thousands of sewer spills and saving millions of dollars for wastewater utilities. SmartCover is based in the San Diego area with satellite offices across the United States.

The Field Service Tech is responsible for monitoring maintaining accurately troubleshooting and repairing SmartCover Systems for all customers installed bases in Northern California. Provides Customer Relationship Management to create and maintain a strong customer loyalty and continuously improve customer satisfaction. Builds trust and maintains open communication with customer(s) in assigned area. Works independently in assigned territory while following company policy and culture protocols. May include the ability to travel outside of the state for other projects dependent upon training and success criteria. Adapts to rapidly changing priorities and consistently works within a balance between maximum efficiency without sacrificing quality of work.

This position will service the San Francisco and Sacramento areas initially so it is preferred that the candidate reside in close proximity to that territory.

Essential Functions:

  • In the field analysis troubleshooting and repair to support SmartCover Systems.
  • Documentation of services performed with demonstrated accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Customer training and general customer service of all SmartCover Systems and products.
  • Scheduling jobs in response to customer requests or requirements.
  • Develop strong relationships with customers coworkers and sales channels.
  • Maintain all company assets vehicle generators tools etc.
  • Work in compliance with all health and safety and environmental legislation including but not limited to the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and SmartCover Policies Procedures and Code of Conduct.
  • Delivering customer insight as to direction growth & satisfaction.
  • Respond to alerts and meet system availability metrics within contractual timeframes
  • Ensuring precise installation/service to reduce the need for followup visits.
  • Support sales staff and install systems within specified time from ship date.

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma plus 23 years in a technical support role or equivalent experience.
  • Must have valid drivers license.
  • Experience selfmanaging day to day duties.
  • Field Service or Technical Support experience preferred.
  • ElectroMechanical and/or Water/Wastewater/Municipal background preferred.

Skills Required:

  • Possesses a high level of technical aptitude.
  • Ability to apply experience and reasoning skills to find viable solutions.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel or Google equivalent.
  • Proficient physical dexterity and comprehension of manual tasks.
  • Proactive problem solving solution driven not passive acceptance.
  • Experience with general safety procedures and requirements including basic traffic control techniques and proficiency with basic hand tools including power drills grinders caulking gun etc.
  • Ability to analyze data apply intuition and experience to complement data and ultimately present sound logical conclusions.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and good judgment in a rapidly changing intense and fast paced team environment.
  • Multitask and coordinate multiple and often conflicting priorities.
  • Maintains an outgoing positive friendly and customerfocused attitude.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills to ensure understanding of message.
  • Effective listening and inquiry skills to ensure understanding of incoming communication.

Physical Demands:

  • Body Positions: Includes standing sitting walking lifting (up to 60 lbs) talking hearing and handling.
  • Work may be indoors in a temperaturecontrolled environment and outdoors in a noncontrolled environment.
  • Typical noise level is low to moderate.

The target hourly rate for this role is $30$33/hr.
