Job Description

The Student Desktop Technician position supports the Department by assisting students staff and faculty by phone email and in person with their technology questions and problems hardware and software support and installation and configuration of equipment. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Setup and deployment of University PCs including Desktops and Laptops Inventory management and timely escalation of high impact issues;
  • Onsite and remote support for hardware and software including application installation and updates.

Hours are flexible and will vary depending on the candidates availability and the workload of the department. The ideal candidate will be able to work 2025 hours a week MondayFriday between the hours of 86.

Candidate must:

  • Have excellent customer service skills; be organized with strong attention to detail
  • Able to multitask in a fastpaced environment; have a positive attitude and be willing to embrace change
  • Be able to work independently as well as within a team
  • Be process oriented with strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Have a willingness to learn
  • Excellent interpersonal and listening skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Able to work with a diverse population and exhibit a high degree of confidentiality
  • Be proficient with MS Office products
  • Able to lift up to 60 pounds (desktops monitors printers scanners ect..

Previous Help Desk or Call Center experience is preferred. Also helpful is familiarity supporting browsers antivirus firewalls antispyware basic wireless troubleshooting Windows operating systems and PC hardware.
