Job Summary:

The Instructional Design & Training Producer Level I will contribute to improving the quality and impact of learning content and instructional design for both new and existing courses at RailPros.

This position is responsible for assisting in the design and development of learning experiences for RailPros employees and customers (both internal and external training products. The role requires collaborating with subject matter experts (SMEs) and stakeholders to assess training needs and implement effective training solutions.

As part of the RailPros Training and Development team this position will develop training for eLearning and instructorled programs under the direction of seniorlevel team members. Training content will focus primarily on safety training and technical skills training using various instructional methodologies and multimedia tools.

Given RailPros emphasis on technologydriven learning this role will also be responsible for coordinating the production and implementation of media assets for training. The ideal candidate will be proactive in designing developing and implementing training solutions that enhance employee performance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Apply adult learning principles and instructional design best practices to create engaging learning activities and compelling course content (e.g. audio video simulations games.
  • Participate in the endtoend development of learning content including assessment methods to measure effectiveness.
  • Design learning solutions that accommodate diverse learning styles and resonate with a broad audience.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to identify training needs and knowledge gaps.
  • Provide curriculum recommendations based on a requirements analysis.
  • Define instructional goals and create content that aligns with them.
  • Develop various training deliverables such as:
    • Training Design Documents
    • InstructorLed Training (ILT) Instructor Guides
    • Student Workbooks Exams and Presentations
    • eLearning Storyboards and Modules
    • Surveys for feedback and assessments
  • Work with multimedia tools to create training materials including audio video animations and simulations.
  • Provide interactive learning exercises to enhance the training experience.
  • Develop assessment instruments to evaluate learner performance.
  • Maintain project documentation and course materials.
  • Conduct followup studies to evaluate training effectiveness and make necessary revisions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support business needs.

Qualifications:

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of adult learning theory and instructional design methodologies for classroombased selfguided and virtual training.
  • Basic experience with eLearning development tools such as Articulate Captivate or similar software.
  • Proficiency in developing instructorled training (ILT) materials including Instructor Guides Participant Manuals and Presentations.
  • Expertise in Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders to achieve training goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong proofreading and editing abilities to ensure clarity and consistency.
  • Ability to write engaging instructional content including scripts for audio and video.
  • Strong time management organization and prioritization skills.
  • Proficiency in electronic communication tools and Microsoft Office Suite.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Communications Instructional Design or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of employee development programs or related experience in instructional design.

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • HTML5 competency.
  • Experience in the railroad industry or a similar technical field.
  • Experience with media production for training materials.
  • Experience working within a Learning Management System (LMS).

Additional Preferred Qualifications & Certifications:

  • Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) credential preferred.
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRMCP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRMSCP) credential preferred.
