Job Description

To perform the job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skills and/ or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individual with duties to perform the essential functions. Answers questions and assists residents as needed throughout the day. Solves problems as they arise. Assists in dining room with meal service for those meals that occur during shift which may include setup of dining room delivering meals refilling drinks clearing plates and cleanup as assigned. Demonstrates ability to handle several tasks at the same time while maintaining a calm and efficient demeanor. Maintains confidentiality if all pertinent information concerning residents and staff. Is fully knowledgeable of the five evacuation and disaster policy of the community and participates as assigned in fire and disaster drills. Performs a variety of activity department duties as assigned which may include some of the following duties: Assists in planning preparing and implementing the daily schedule/program for members; ensures members involvement in meaningful and enjoyable activities . Assists and demonstrates assigned duties to volunteers. Assists in shopping for maintaining and controlling inventory of activity equipment and supplies. Promotes and facilitates good morale and cheerfulness among residents and staff; utilizes appropriate and effective approaches/techniques for serving individuals with dementia. Provides protective supervision (observing and monitoring) of all residents. Follows the standards of safety and sanitation within the Center; complies with all related licensing requirements. Assists in general clean up and maintenance of the Center. Performs other duties as required Qualifications Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience. Interpersonal Skills: Focuses on solving conflict not blaming; maintains confidentiality listens to others without interruption; keeps emotions under control; remains open to others ideas and tries new things Organizational support: Follows policies and procedures; completes administrative tasks completely and on time; supports organizations goals and values; benefits organization through outside activities; supports affirmative action and respects diversity Planning/Organizing: Prioritizes and plans work activities; uses time efficiently; sets goals and objectives; organizes or schedules other people and their tasks Professionalism: Approaches others in a tactful manner; reacts well under pressure; treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position; accepts responsibility for own actions; follows through on commitments Dependability: Follows instructions responds to management direction; takes responsibility for own actions; keeps commitments; completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternative plan Initiative: Volunteers readily; seeks increased responsibilities; takes independent actions and calculated risks; asks for and offers help when needed Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to listen and speak with individuals. The employee is required to stand use hands reach with hands and climb or balance. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Good vision is also required.
