Cornwall Councils Maritime Section are looking to appoint a full time Maritime Assistant based at the Councils Harbour Workshop in Newham Road Truro but undertaking maintenance duties within any of the Ports and Harbours of Truro Penryn Penzance St Ives Newquay Bude Portscatho Portreath and the Prince of Wales Pier as well as other maritime assets.
The Role:
You will be working as part of a small team providing general maritime and maintenance duties for the Cornwall Council ports and harbours. This is an interesting and varied post and we are looking for an enthusiastic person who can show a genuine interest in working within a marine environment.
This position will be subject to a basic criminal record disclosure check.
Working Pattern:
You will be required to work Monday to Friday but some flexibility will be needed to meet the needs of the service.
What youll need to succeed:
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate someprior knowledge and understanding of the maritime industry and the ability to operate small craft as well as some experience of maintenance of boats and maritime assets. You will need good IT skills as you will be required to use an asset database for mooring and maintenance records as well as using other marine related software. A full driving licence is essential.
