HybridCollins Aerospace has an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Controls Engineer to support its Mission Systems Integrated Strategic Solutions Portfolio team. In this role you will be responsible for the design development testing and qualification of a new motor control systems. You should have a strong background in power supply electronics used to drive high voltage motors.
This position will sit at our Aguadilla PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered.
This role is categorized as hybrid with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote following the schedule assigned by the Manager.
What YOU will do:
- Support hardware in the loop (HIL) analysis/testing and simulation modeling
- Develop and implement realtime closedloop HIL capabilities
- Create high voltage power electronic design
- Design and develop motor control systems
- Write test plans and conduct system testing
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues in a lab environment
- Create dynamic models of electrical and mechanical systems.

Qualifications you must have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree 9 years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
- U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- BS in Electrical Engineering
- Experience in documentation and development of test plans and procedures
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles
- Experience with power electronics motor drives and control systems
- Knowledge of electromagnetic systems battery management and highpower electronics
- Solid background in linear system analysis stability controller design statespace analysis and frequencydomain methods.
- Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink for modeling and control system design
- Knowledge of modern control techniques including robust and adaptive control strategies
- Experience understanding and intuition for the physics of basic electric propulsion and motor control systems
