Job Description

Subject to Collective Bargaining Agreement Requirements

The construction engineering technology programs reside in the Department of Civil Engineering with a diverse student body of approximately 300 undergraduate and graduate students. We offer BS in Construction Engineering Technology and related Associate Degree programs.

Responsibilities

The selected applicant(s) will develop and teach engineering technology courses and associated laboratories. In addition to teaching responsibilities include advising and recruiting CET students conducting course and program assessments for accreditation engaging in professional development and service activities and building relationships with industry partners and other educational institutions to support the overall growth of the CET program. A key aspect of this role is strengthening industry engagement by collaborating with construction professionals integrating realworld projects into coursework and securing industry partnerships to enhance curriculum relevance. The faculty member will also contribute to student recruitment efforts by engaging with high schools community colleges and industry professionals seeking career advancement while also promoting CET program pathways for both traditional and nontraditional students.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must hold a masters degree and have either a bachelors or masters degree in construction engineering technology Construction Management or Civil Engineering. A strong technical and construction background is essential with the ability to teach courses in construction materials construction management topics such as Construction Estimating Scheduling Contracts and Specifications Legal Aspects of Construction and Project Management as well as courses focused on construction practices including Plan Reading Residential Building Construction Green & Sustainable Building Practices and Mechanical and Electrical Service Systems.

Applicants must demonstrate excellent communication interpersonal and teamwork skills along with a minimum of three years of verifiable industry experience.

Candidates should also have familiarity with emerging construction technologies including Building Information Modeling (BIM) digital construction management tools automation and sustainable construction practices.

Preferred Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have significant administrative and field experience in construction management project management construction trades and/or professional engineering. A vision and enthusiasm for teaching and service in an undergraduate Engineering Technology environment is highly desirable along with a commitment to fostering industry collaborations and promoting CET program growth. Experience with construction practices competitions and advising student teams is preferred as well as strong professional connections within the Northeast Ohio regional construction industry. Candidates who hold industryrecognized certifications such as OSHA 30 LEED AP CCM or PMP will be given special consideration. Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is also preferred.

Prior teaching experience in higher education is preferred though industry professionals with mentoring corporate training or guest lecturing experience are encouraged to apply. Experience with online and hybrid course delivery or workforce training programs is desirable as the program seeks to expand flexible learning opportunities.
