Job Description
Summary
- POSITION INFORMATION
- Position summary:
- Retrieves paper medical records and documents from the clinical areas and nursing units and logs paper charts into HIM Department. Verifies chart documentation is correct for patient and visit encounter. Prepares charts for scanning which includes removing staples and repairing damaged documents and assembling charts in Medical Staff approved order. Scans charts into CPDI. Performs quality control of scanned documents. Validates scanned charts in CarePoints to allow the medical record to be visible in Cerner.
- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education:
- High School Graduate or equivalent required. Associate degree in health information management (or currently enrolled) preferred.
Required length and type of experience:- Minimum one year experience in a hospital or outpatient clinic setting required. One year of healthcarerelated college coursework may be substituted.
Required licensure certification or registry:Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred.
