Responsibilities
This position is responsible for the efficient accurate complete and timely preparation and review of estate gift and fiduciary tax returns as well as corporate passthrough entities and individual returns.
This position requires the ability to make decisions on all but the most unusual tax situations while still consulting with other team members.
This position requires the manager to be in the office periodically and more often during busy season to meet in person with clients to interact and cultivate relationships with clients fellow staff and partners.
Participation in local community events and networking is also an important part of this position.
Client and project management
Work and collaborate with client attorneys to facilitate return preparation and other planning and consulting services.
Analyze and correctly apply provisions in estate planning documents including power of attorney wills codicils and trust agreements.
Participate in special engagements involving estate planning tax accounting consulting and research.
Work closely with team members to complete projects share knowledge and expertise and help develop ideas and processes.
Qualifications
Advanced technical skills in a variety of tax and accounting areas along with welldeveloped and applied management and supervisory skills are required.
A qualified applicant should have a strong working knowledge of the trust taxation theory trust/fiduciary accounting income and distributable net income rules and be familiar with the concepts of revocable living trusts and other grantor trusts marital trusts bypass trusts charitable splitinterest trusts and should be familiar with Oregon estate tax laws.
Possess a strong knowledge of corporate passthrough entity and individual taxation.
A minimum of five years experience required seven plus years preferred in public accounting demonstrating a proven progression in tax complexity scope and research.
At least two 2 years experience representing clients before taxing authorities.
Minimum one 1 year experience supervising and directing work of tax preparers.
A current and valid certified public accountants license is required.
Must be a member in good standing with the American Institute of CPAs.
