About the job
Canon Recruiting Group is looking for an experienced Controller to play a pivotal role in shaping our accounting and finance department. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of corporate accounting experience and at least 3 years of handson experience with NetSuite demonstrating strong mastery of the system. The ideal candidate will have a background in working with consumer goods companies with handson experience in inventory management and a deep understanding of Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) accounting. This role is critical in supporting the integration of our first ERP system and enhancing our Warehouse Management System (WMS). The Controller will ensure the seamless management of financial operations and contribute to our continued growth and success.
Major Responsibilities
- Financial Management: Manage the periodend GL close and reporting cycles of domestic and international entities.
- Reporting: Provide monthly financial reports to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT).
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Prepare OPEX CAPEX and forecasts by department; monitor and report EBITDA.
- Team Management: Oversee the outside accounting firm inhouse accountants and payroll processing.
- Internal Controls: Lead the development and implementation of financial controls in preparation for the first GAAP audit.
- Systems Optimization: Work closely with the IT Department to optimize the ERP system and coordinate workflows with other departments.
- Tax Planning: Collaborate with outside accounting firms for tax planning and manage the preparation of required materials for tax filings.
- Inventory & Cost Management: Implement and manage inventory audits and process improvements; oversee cost management for domestic and international 3PLs.
- Insurance Administration: Administer domestic and international insurance policies.
- Compliance: Maintain expertise in applicable accounting principles and ensure new accounting guidance is appropriately implemented.
Basic Qualifications
- Education: Bachelors degree in accounting or finance; CPA preferred (active or inactive).
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of corporate accounting experience with experience in high growth and highvolume eCommerce businesses.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) eCommerce platforms (Shopify preferred) and MS Office Suite (Excel expertise required).
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of GAAP tax code and relevant compliance procedures.

Work Location:
This position requires onsite presence in the Los Angeles area ideally suited for candidates residing near the San Fernando Valley with easy access to our Chatsworth corporate office. The role requires a fulltime fivedayaweek commitment. Relocation assistance may be offered for the right candidate.
