SUMMARY:
The COT functions as a highly skilled/knowledgeable member of the patient care team contributing to the health management of the patients; performs a variety of patient care activities and accommodative services for clinic patients many in assistance to section physicians; maintains primary responsibility for all technical procedures and the operation and care of the clinical unit in the Ophthalmology department.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Certified Ophthalmic Technician will be defined by JCAHPO through applicable means of formal and/or onthejob training. Formal training will be indicated by applicable experience in ophthalmology and patient care with exposure to patient care sterile techniques and medical terminology; CPR certification; ability to read and understand medical information.
PHYSICAL GUIDELINES:
Physical guidelines include the ability to move traverse position self remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day; lift move and transport patients and supplies; motor coordination and manual dexterity; visual acuity; and articulate speech.
