Position Summary

An opportunity for a Psychiatrist at Ravensview part of Homewood Health the national leader in mental health and addictions treatment in Canada. This position is within our specialized treatment program delivering evidencebased treatments and superior treatment outcomes. This program is delivered onsite at Ravensview in a collaborative manner with a supportive interdisciplinary team which includes nurses dieticians social workers occupational therapists recreational therapists and horticulture therapists. In this role you will be responsible for the clinical psychiatric care of patients as they engage in their recovery journey.

Homewood Ravensview is a private 75bed mental health trauma and addiction facility offering evidencebased medicallyled inpatient services for first responders military veterans executives & professionals adults and young adults. Located in North Saanich on 28 acres of forested hillside Homewood Ravensview offers clients a comfortable and safe environment featuring serene ocean views from spacious rooms welcoming common areas and a worldclass team of physicians psychiatrists counsellors and 24hour nursing professionals.

What youll be doing:

  • Clinically responsible for assigned patients including admission assessment diagnosis treatment planning monitoring referral daily care and discharge.
  • Clinical care includes diagnosis and management of psychiatric disorders medication management and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team for return to work planning and psychotherapeutic interventions
  • Provide ongoing supervision and management of clinical/patient care including individual assessments with the patient to ensure ongoing standards of patient care are met
  • Collaborate with other physicians nurses and allied health professionals in providing optimal patient care within an interdisciplinary team
  • Complete documentation including admission history mental status diagnostic impression treatment plan weekly progress notes a comprehensive discharge summary and if applicable thirdparty reports of the highest quality to ensure the medical record is meaningful and useful and a treatment plan can be established by the team
  • Utilize electronic medical platforms such as Caseworks and BDM (training provided)
  • Provide clinical guidance to the program and to the admitting department for appropriate and timely referrals and admissions
  • Ensure best practice standards of clinical care are implemented and maintained
  • Support colleagues with patient coverage during physician absences
  • Complete and submit MSP billings in a timely manner
  • Liaison with third party referrers as needed for continuity of care (VAC provincial workers compensation boards employers)

What we are looking for:

  • A specialist certification in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent body acceptable to the Royal College and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC)
  • Experience with diagnosis and management of complex psychiatric disorders and comorbid mental health and substance use disorders is preferred
  • Interest to work with complex and comorbid disorders as well as ongoing learning and teaching to continually enhance patient care
  • Previous experience leading teams in an MRP role
  • Adept at creating an environment that supports team spirit and collaboration across the organization
  • Faculty appointment experience in working with medical students and residents
  • Inspire others to be accountable through action decisions and/or communication
  • Strong ability to create exceptional relationships with clients patients customers and colleagues
  • Strong ability to negotiate and influence with proven critical thinking analysis and complex problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly developed organizational and timemanagement skills
  • Continued involvement in medical education and teaching
  • Demonstrated commitment to infection prevention and control needs of the hospital
  • Working knowledge of Dialectical Behavioural Therapy Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and the principles of traumainformed care are welcomed assets

Homewood Health promotes a fair and competitive compensation model. Pay rates are tailored to reflect differences in operating environments and job requirements. Compensation is influenced by many factors including compensation principles or approach for a role or job function organizational tenure experience qualifications or premium skills external competitiveness internal comparability geography and work performance. Pay for this position is $1700 per day $350000 $371000 per year)
