Job Description

The Crisis Mental Health Therapist for our Housing Department will develop and implement specialized individual plans for homeless clients to assist in identifying minimizing or resolving problems and to ensure safety. The Therapist will counsel and advise individuals in person and by telephone who are experiencing acute emotional or mental crisis. The Crisis Mental Health Therapist will provide individual and group therapy. The Therapist conducts mental health assessments maintains current and accurate case documentation and provide crisis intervention and support services.

  • Leading the group treatment team with the responsibility of ensuring each client successfully completesthe goals set forth in their treatment plan by providing individual andgroup therapy; thus improving social functioning.
  • Collaboration with internal and external resources to ensure the treatment plans created are successful.
  • Guide the client through the entire treatment process including intake assessments interviewing and orienting the client maintaining complete and detailed case records providing ongoing summaries of service indicating client case history and progress document progress notes for clients.
  • Advocating for the client.
  • Provides leadership assist with controlling disruptive behavior using agency approved methods of deescalation and crisis intervention.

Education and Experiences

  • A Master degree in Social Work or Psychology along with independent licenses such as an LMFT LICSW or LPCC are required for mental health therapists with one year of experience in a human services or social services setting that demonstrates clinical case management or direct service experience. May be limited licensed.
  • Licensed in applicable field of practice or eligible to obtain licensure within 6 months of hire.
  • Experience working with homeless populations.
