Purpose: The Staff Accountant is responsible for various accounting and administrative tasks related to Yellowstone Club homeowners associations. The position is currently located in Yellowstone Clubs Bozeman office.
Major Responsibilities:
- Ensure that each member and guest receives outstanding guest service in a guest friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every member and guest maintaining outstanding service standards solid product knowledge and all other components of guest service.
- Empowered to guarantee total guest satisfaction display hospitality and professionalism to our guests at all times take pride in representing Yellowstone Club professionally with our members and guests and assure that all transactions with guests are handled in a legal and ethical manner.
- Understand and apply all property safety and security procedures to maintain a secure and safe environment for employees members and guests at all times. In the event of an accident or emergency seek medical attention if necessary and contact the General Manager or Human Resources immediately.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.The Staff Accountant is responsible for managing the financial operations of the homeowners associations assigned ensuring accurate recordkeeping and maintaining financial compliance. This position will help ensure the general ledger is accurate manage monthend close complete account reconciliations prepares financial statements and assist with annual budgets and forecasts. With assistance from the Controller and Assistant Controller they will assist with cash management ensuring timely collections and overseeing billing procedures. This position requires strong attention to detail proficiency in accounting software and an understanding of fund accounting practices to maintain transparency and accountability.
- Manage and refine the general ledger close procedures ensuring complete and timely monthly financials statements
- Reconcile bank and investment accounts
- Reconcile various balance sheet accounts
- With support of the AP Specialist ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices and related vendor payments
- With support of the AR Specialist coordinate timely and accurate owner statements and related owner payments
- Prepare reporting to VPs/Directors/Board of Directors as requested
- Collaborate with both internal and external auditors to complete timely audits and refine accounting procedures
- Support in annual financial budget and routine financial forecast preparation.
- Analyze and understand operating and reserve cash balances to ensure best cash management procedures
- Enforce and enhance the internal controls to ensure accurate financial reports
- Assist with other ad hoc general ledger and project support
- Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately in accordance with company policy accepted accounting practices and the IRS
- Ability to quickly learn enterprise level accounting systems (GP QuickBooks Caliber) and use advanced MS Excel functions to accomplish essential job duties

Experience/Education Required
- Previous administration accounts payable accounts receivable or general accounting experience is required.
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing managing files and records designing forms and other office procedures and terminology.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to quality and detail.
- The ability to work well independently.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to maintain sound working relationships and communications with management staff and vendors.
- Troubleshooting determining causes of errors and deciding what to do about it.
- Proven experience using communication and organizational skills to accomplish goals.
Experience/Education Preferred
- Proficiency in enterprise software applications preferred; Great Plains QuickBooks and Caliber knowledge a plus.
- Degree in business finance accounting or a related field preferred.
- A strong understanding of nonprofit accounting practices is a plus.
- A combination of relevant education and experience will also be considered.

Language Ability
Able to speak clearly and effectively with Members guests coworkers vendors and other Yellowstone Club departments. Able to write clearly and legibly.

Able to perform basic math calculations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve basic problems and/or know when it is necessary to get a manager to assist in problem solving.
Work Environment
