Day 08 Hour (United States of America)

This is a Stanford Blood Center job.

A Brief Overview
The LSRAII will perform complex functions and activities involved in defined translational and clinical innovation projects leading to new and optimized assays and patient assessment relevant to transplantation. The LSRA II will conduct a portion of these projects with minimal supervision. As a member of the Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics team will comply with all clinical accreditation and safety standards.

What you will do
  • Perform complex lab experiments for a major portion of the translational or clinical innovation project. Maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes. Interpret and analyze results often where few guidelines exist
  • Based on experimental results contribute to development of new protocols and procedures or adaptation of existing protocols. Development of new protocols may include automation of manual methods requiring programming of and experience with liquid handling robots and equipment trouble shooting. Document protocols in the form of SOPs for use in the clinical laboratory.30
  • Train (either formally or informally) team members or students as needed including oversight and instruction on techniques as well as consultation on project work. Serve as technical resource for other staff. Technical resource includes knowledge of protocols and the ability to train and troubleshoot complex instrumentation such as liquid handling robots and various sequencing and analyzer instruments.
  • Perform ongoing literature review to remain current with new procedures and related research; present findings for lab work group. Contribute substantively to the preparation of publication especially in the materials methods and results sections. Present ongoing work and findings to colleagues at industry conferences.
  • Oversee supply and equipment budget for Innovation team under supervision of principal investigator or business manager. Perform general lab maintenance as needed relevant to innovation teams work; maintain lab supplies manage chemical inventory and safety records and provide general lab support as needed. May assist with developing recommendations for purchase of laboratory equipment.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teams across different departments and with industry partners

Education Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in related laboratory science field Required
  • Masters Degree in related laboratory science field Preferred

Experience Qualifications
  • Three 3 years of related experience or Masters Degree. Required

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Comprehensive understanding of basic life science principles.
  • General computer skills and ability to quickly learn and master computer programs databases and scientific applications.
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent judgment.
  • Experience working with liquid handling robots. Ability to trouble when issues arise.
  • Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and also as part of a team.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to document standard operating procedures.
  • Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to accurately complete and document detailed work.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $44.60 $57.99 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity experience education specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
